    Hey all,

I have an IFL90 that's been working great for three years (thanks to the guys at PowerNotebooks.com, props to them). But now I have a power issue. The laptop will charge the battery fine and run off of AC power fine. However, if you unplug the laptop while it is on and later plug the AC power back in, it will not recognize the AC power input. It will run only on the battery without charging or even using the AC power. If you pull out the battery, even though its plugged into AC power it will immediately shutdown. Shutting down the laptop resolves this problem, it'll recognize the AC power again and start charging. Also, on occasion, when the laptop shuts down it will still have the power LED on and won't respond to the power button unless you pull out and plug in the battery again. I think this happens only when the laptop shuts down from a power issue. Any ideas, and is it possible to fix it without sending the whole laptop back for repair?

3 years is a long time for a battery if you use your laptop on battery a lot. I assume you don't have a second battery to check if the problem still occurs?

Or you could try another AC adapter. If it's not one of those things or some weird software issue which I doubt it has to be the mainboard and then your only option would be to send it in. However, replacing the mainboard costs a lot and you identified the situations in which the problem occurs pretty well so you can just circumvent them. Having to restart the laptop more often is annoying but not as annoying as spending like 300 dollar.

I haven't been able to test it with another battery, but I have tested it with another AC adapter and produced the same results. It's still got a few months on its warranty, so I'll wait till the last month and get it taken care of then.

Well problem solved, looks like it was the old adapter that was causing these problems. The new FSP has a loose connector that I'm going to hotglue, which is why it was acting all strangely.

And problem not solved, getting the laptop to charge is requiring more and more black magic. Do I need to send the whole thing back?
