Hey all, I've been in the business of shopping for a new laptop recently. I was thinking of getting a dell e1505, but I want to be able to take the laptop back and forth from college to home and be able to use it for some gaming. After checking through prices and such, I think i've settled on the IFL90.

Powernotebooks seems to have one of the best reps around here, but I did have some questions.

I was going to email the customer support but I figured the people who have dealt with them in the past would know as well, and be able to give me some opinions.

My main question was about the wire transfer 3% discount. How does one go about doing a wire transfer? Any cost involved? Or is it just like an online check? Every little bit off helps.

And, should I call the laptop order in or just do it through the website? I know there is a discount on the Arctic Silver if I call in, but I'm not sure whether I'd want to bite on that or not.

I also have some questions regarding the build I came up with:
-Definitely getting the WSXGA+ screen. That will "most likely" be the glossy version right? I'd rather matte, but I'm okay with either. Also, I'm REALLLLY hoping the IFL90 will have the GT version of the 8600. Will i notice the GS's performance loss in newer games?

-T7300, is it worth the 90 bucks to upgrade to the 7500, or will I notice no difference?

-1x2048 RAM, is the Corsair worth the money, or will the brand being put in perform just as well?

-1gb Robson turbo Memory, could it be added later? And, if i choose to dualboot with xp or ubuntu, will it interfere with drivers and whatnot?

-TV Tuner - I doubt i'm going to put one in, but are they high quality or are notebook versions USUALLY a little bit on the lower end? If not in the laptop I will get one for my desktop during the summer, and just use that to watch and record TV

Thank you all so much in advance, and sorry if any of the questions have been asked before

you can probably do a wire transfer for free from your bank to powernotebooks. its like western union.

you should call for the arctic silver discount

gt is about twice as fast as gs from the 3dmark benchmarks

cpu upgrade is up to you, i doubt ull see much improvement

corsair is better quality, but i dunno what they use for their generic brand. i know corsair has a lifetime replacement deal

robson is added using a mini-pci card i think, i suppose you can add it later, it should not interfere with xp or linux

there are posts about the tv tuner, it is the same quality as the pci ones for the desktop, and imo those dont look too crisp

A wire transfer is an electronic transfer of funds from your bank to their bank. Usually you have to pay a fee for a wire transfer if the two banks are not the same. I ordered a IFL90 from XoticPC and instead of doing the wire transfer, I just had Bank of America send a check instead (more secure than me sending it, plus no cost for postage!) in order to get away from the transfer fee.

And korg basically answered the other questions in the above post.

You can still call and then order online and get the discount. That is what I did.

Yeah I think both screens will be glossy. Check out some of the comparison threads in the Asus forums. The 8600GT seems much faster than the 8600GS.

I think the T7300 is the best and you wouldn't really notice an improvement upgrading to the T7500

I personally would buy the cheaper of the two rams. They both should be covered under the 3 year warranty I believe (Donald correct me if I am wrong).

I just talked to Donald on the phone, and that was really helpful. i think I'm going to go ahead and order tomorrow. I'll probably not go for the robson as I may dualboot with Linux, and it may cause more harm than good. I'll just save the TV tuner for my desktop if I choose to get one, so that brings the price down another 150 bucks, and makes it reasonable.

Hopefully they come in soon! Thanks for all your guys' help.
