    Hi!

    I just received my IFL90 today :D

But when I'm going to install Win XP (32 bit) this bluescreen shows up:

    STOP: 0x0000007e (0x0000005, 0xf748e0bf, 0xf78da208, 0xf78d9f08)

    pci.sys - Address f748e0bf base at f7487000 DateStamp 3b7d855c

The problem shows up pretty early in the instalation process. EDIT: Mor precisely just when it switch from "setup is loading files" (or somthing like that) to when setup starts "installing".

According to a MS article, "STOP 0x0000007E" might be related to insufficient hdd space(dont think thats a problem) or you might need a BIOS revision.
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330182

But Pci.sys BSOD might be becuase you are using an SP1 disk. I recommend slipstreaming SP2 on to that disk and then trying to reinstall/install it.

    Slipstreaming SP2

After a little bit I remembered that I had a Win XP SP2 CD. When using that the blue screen did not show up! :)

BUT: It does then say that "no hard drive found".

The BIOS found the hdd, and its Seagate: st9160823as-(s1).

    I come to the

    "Welcome to Setup
To set up windows now, press enter
    (......)"

I chose to press enter and then this shows up:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
    Make sure (...)"

The only option is to press F3=>Quit.

The same thing happens if I choose repair (don't now how that's anyway going to work - I have a new computer with clean hdd..., but just to give it a shot).

Anyone having some experience here? Pretty frustraded....

Missing SATA drivers for your IFL90's hard-disk? I think the recommended way around this is to go into your BIOS settings, and see if you can try to make it appear to be PATA or something like that.

Also, here's a nice write-up on making your own XP-install CD with the needed drivers:

Nice shiny pics. I like the cover. As for your error...that's an odd one...maybe swap out ram chips?

Definitely sounds like you need to get the SATA drivers onto a disk and hit 'F6' while booting the installer.

Thank you for posting those pictures. To the guy who said this was designed by drunk engineers probably need to apologize to those tea-totaling designers!

Still hard to believe I'm 2 to 3 weeks from getting mine, this just make the wait that much more unbearable.

Hope you get your issues resolved!

It's the SATA missing drivers on XP's CD...for sure. If you can connect an external floppy you can put the driver there and make XP look for it by pressing F6 during setup.
I am sure there is a lot of information about that problem in MS or other sources too.
    Good luck!

    Possible option:
Disable the 'AHCI' feature in the BIOS (V1.07) (Standard = enable) and your harddrive will be recognized by your XP Setup without loading extra drivers.
    Works fine!

But then you'll use your HDD as a Standard IDE... right?
From what I have heard, once you install XP with AHCI disabled, you can't then enable it later, XP won't boot.

Is this true? I'm in the process of getting an IFL90 with no OS and plan to install Win XP, so I'm kind of truly interested in this matter... X_X

Yeah, I'd rather have a solution that allows to keep everything enabled. It seems to me there ought to be a way to prepare a CD with everything needed on it.

Someone might have mentioned it earlier, but all you need to do is slipstream a cd. It's not terribly difficult. http://www.hfslip.org/ is a program that worked well for me.

Yeah, I've got one at home, I think PC mag had instructions a few months ago as well. It sure is nice to get the SP2 updating out of the equation.

Er... I read the following reply from Amundsf to mean that he tried to use XP slipstreamed with SP2. That took care of the BSOD but he got the HD error:

Yeah, but the drive is SATA and SP2 still doesn't include SATA drivers (I don't think). That means the install disk can't recognize the hard drive, unless you slipstream SATA drivers as well.

Right. So more is needed than SP2. I've seen plenty of instructions to slipstream service packs and hotfixes but how do you slipstream a single driver? Or would that driver be part of a hotfix?

Huh, I have the HEL-80 and I have a SATA hard-drive. All I need is XP SP2, nothing more.

well.. try to use the chipset driver SATA for asus G1s .. some one wrote a useful guide there. ANd it works with most Intel Chipset. I use nlite and intergrate the driver inthe winXP CD.. so installing windows is piece of cake.
