First of all I find the keyboard very cheap quality, but I can leave with it, however one key in particular was defected, and it is getting worst so I contacted my reseller and he wants me to send back either the whole laptop or the keyboard to fix the issue. I cannot afford to do either one, I'm thinking just changing the key, any ideas?

You could buy an keyboard all together. Not sure where, but I'm pretty sure it would be an option.

Wouldn't there be some VBI keyboards that could fit it?

That's an idea, I could also change the defected key only but I have no clue where to buy it. Also, new keyboard is $60 I believe, very expensive for such a cheap KB.

Keyboard, my keyboard is working fine but it still isn't stable on some points.
With the term stable i mean you can press the complete keyboard down, still searching for a good solution to fix this.

Is the key broken or the keyboard, i have a spare keyboard?

That's very bad, it means the base support is not solidily built. This support once again my point, the KB including the frame is vey cheap.

Have you tried to remove the KB to verify what is causing the bending?

Yep it's just the top side that's not pushing down.
This is causing the keybaord to flex down every time you press a key on the top line.

    That's stinks!

I'm a kind of person that I want perfection when I buy stuff above $500. The whole KB is actually poor desing, mine it has a bad touch feeling in the midle, beside my broken key. I asked the reseller about a better KB, I would pay for it, but he said there is no other KB. We have many vendors for almost all the components in a laptop, but only one KB manufacturer, they must be rich, no competition.

Mine is fine, I fixed it by pressing the area just under the keyboard between the hinges until it locked in place.....

My KB doesn't flex, the issue is that two keys are broken. The frame below the keys holding them attched to the KB base are broken.

I deeply apreciate your offer, however I already sent the full keyboard back to the reseller. The up and down keys were defected. The KB for laptops, at least for the IFL90 are cheap built. If you are a gamer I guess you don't care much about the touch and feeling of the keyssince you must be using a Joystick of the sort, but I don't play other than Chessmaster (for which I use the mouse), but I type a lot, so a nice KB is important for me.

Why did you change your KB, what did you get and where did you buy it?

I bought the KB in the Netherlands.
The Keyboard is replaced because the FN key didn't work.
I have the part number if you like I can send you a spare part list with all the part numbers.

What do you think? Is it look like some kind of "locks","clips" to lock the keyboard?
And may be pressing on that places will lockup the keyboard and illiminate flex. It Is driving me crazy.

My KB sits well in the overall surface but I still have some sunken spots around the F4 to F7 function keys

I fell on my laptop and that fixed the problem ^^... But what I did after cleaning my keyboard was just pressing on the whole(as in not just near the keyboar but under the lcd too) button panel until I didn't hear any clicking....

Good for you, however I don't think I'll try to fix it the same way :D

The issue is that there is nothing unders these function keys, no support at all, so it's just bad design.

Somebody on the forum wrote the exact same sentence when we were talking about that. The keyboard is held in place in that area by the quickbuttons panel, it seems like my fall applied enough pressure on that part so that the panel locks wherever it is supposed to lock.
But after that when I hade to remove it for cleaning the problem reappeared so I just pressed on it until it clicked in place and didn't move anymore and the floating stopped. There seem to be a hook in the area between the power button and the lcd.

I think I got with the perfect solution according to the flex. I took off front panel, unscrewed two screws that ware holding the keyboard and:
    1) Made the center front part a bit defragmented, so that it would be lower than the corners, that are screwed down.
    2) Put the keyboard back and pushed it till the end forward and down in the direction of an LCD panel, then by holding it in this position screwed it back in.

The real deal is nr.2, since it becomes tightly pushed to the case and can no longer do middle Fx key flex. There is still a bit flex in the center of the keyboard, perhaps it could be solved by putting some sort of slim material under there.

By the way keyboard, battery and ac are the same as HEL80. Underneath the keyboard it is written - common building blocks. So you can buy any CBB keyboard or battery, for example ASUS x96x would do just fine.

@Ayle: I'll try that, although the poweer key area is far from my flexing point, but it's worth the try, thanks.

@Dirt: If Ayle's trick doesn't work, I'll follow your suggestion, I'll try to put some support, something that it will not move, may be I'll glue it.

I still think is a bad design and the KB cheap.

No, I'm sorry, it didn't last long. Now I just glue it down in places near F4, F8 and F12 keys with Moment glue. By the way I found out that the flex in the center isn't exactly flex, its case itself vibrates when hitting the MoBo.

!!!WARNING!!! Do not glue it. It cant be undone. I have made this mistake and was needed to replace the keyboard! Just think if in the future you will must to send it to warranty repair? This will void your warranty!!! Or if you just want to open it for any reason? To clean or to fix or to chek something. You can't! But main reason is WARRANTY.

Thank you for the warning but I didn't mean to glue the KB, I meant to glue the little piece to provide a higher support, that piece would be glued to the base, not to the KB.

delta90h That’s right. The very first rule of all modifications is that it could be unmoded without any noticeable marks left. That's why I like pencil voltmoding so much. ;)
The glue I used can be scratched of easily; it's not like Super Glue, more like rubber. And therefore I didn't glue it completely, just little mounting parts of it (3 of them)
    This one

wow... i didn't think something like keyboard quality would be an issue since everyone raves bout the build quality of these notebooks =\ i even remember people saying how compal is one of the few companies that havn't decrease the plastic thickness of the keys so there strong unlike other companies.. hmm..
is the newer ifl92 any different?

JFL92 is supposed to be different from the platform perspective, but I think the shell will continue to be the same.

Once again the keyboard is standard CBB, the very same that is used in all common barebones like Asus.

Hmm..I don't have a flex issue with my keyboard. Is it a particular side or section or just all over. I find that it is much sturdier than the dell I previously owned(700m).

I have never had a DELL so I cannot comment but my understanding is that they use Compal anyway so it should be the same KB.

it seems like there are two camps on the 2090 keyboard. those that have flexy keyboards, and those that don't. personally, my keyboard has flex, especially around F1-F4 (pretty much just like the infamous youtube vid). is there is just that much variability in the parts? i wonder if i bought a replacement, if it would be stable or not. probably won't, as the flex doesn't bother me that much.
