I have a question for those who have used both the HEL80 and the new IFL90. Is the keyboard basically the same on both models? I think the HEL80's keyboard is a bit loud. I have not used the IFL90.

I am coming from a MacBook so I am used to a nice, quiet keyboard. Just gathering thoughts.

    Thanks!

it;s the same keyboard afaik, at least looks quite the same. however it really depends on the montage, the vbi versions often have flex, loudness, etc.

it's all how your reseller will take care of it. I have only tried the fl90s in shops, where there was some ambience about, so it's hard to compare that against my home area where I use my EL80.

I would also like to know how much noise is generated from typing...mainly wondering about the Compal IFL90 from powernotebooks(powerpro)

it's audible but it all really depends on how it is mounted; the keyboard itself is like a tracer flat keyboard sort of - so reasonably audible, quieter than normal pc keyboard ofcourse ('tall' keyboard with 'tall' keys), but audible in a quiet room - tho not enough to be disturbing, at my taste. I'd make a film, but I only have a mobile phone at my disposal so the quality would be poor and fare the audibility poorly.

The IFL90 and HEL80 keyboards are the same. I know as we use them in our rebranded models of these 2 machines.

The keyboards are the same, but the IFL90 frame has it mounted much better than the HEL80 so it is much firmer without nearly the flex that the HEL80 has.

If you are getting any flex with the IFL90 just be sure your Power Strip above the keyboard is firmly seated.
