Hey,
I got so inspired reading on this forum that I decided to have a go at upgrading my IFL90+ with a 4650. The 200€ mxm-upgrade wanted for the card was a bit much for me, so I found a seller on ebay that sold them considerably cheaper. The package arrived today ok, and I have now installed the card no problem. I had to do the "standard" heat sink fix to get it to fit properly.
It started up perfectly and I installed the newest ati drivers (10.11) having cleaned the old drivers out of course. The performance is rock solid, no stability issues and the temperature maxed at 77degrees C after gaming stalker. The only problem I have, and it's a serious one, is that the laptop screen flickers. Not so much in windows (although some), but a lot in games. However, when I'm using an external monitor as main screen it doesn't flicker. When using both screens at the same time the external monitor doesn't flicker but the internal one does... Has anyone else experienced this after upgrading?
At first I thought the card was bad, but after discovering that the vga port doesn't have the problem I'm not so sure...
I did clean the connector pins before installing the card, and I have tried reconnecting the laptop screen cables.
EDIT:
I was very tired when I wrote the thread last night.
Now I have tested some more. It seems that the flickering starts as soon as the drivers are loaded, no flickering in bios or startup.
My old card is a 8600M GT 512MB (still working) and the new card is a used ATi Mobility Radeon 4650 1024MB.
Is there any way to monitor the PCI Express bus speed in real time? The performance is jerky in some games and in 3D mark 06, so I'm wondering if I'm experiencing PCI throttling. In stalker however, which is usually a very demanding game, everything is fine.
Another strange thing is that I get BSOD when trying to boot into safe mode.

Try GPU-Z, as far as I know, it will update the PCI-E link.
See the screenshots at the mxm site -
I have tried GPU-Z, but I'm not sure that it refreshes that screen. It doesn't update the clock frequencies when powermizer does it's thing. Anyway, I haven't seen the bus speed dropping on that screen at least. So it probably isn't an issue. Thanks though
The screen flickering is still present. -
Nvm, didn't read your second post with updated info. It helps for speeds sake to edit all updated info from your end into the original post.

Have tried fiddeling some more with this, but still the artifacts are there. I have no stability issues so I don't think the card is bad.
Is there anyone here that have successfully upgraded their ifl90 with a Radeon 4650 1024mb ddr2? If so, could you please dump and post your bios here for me? I would very much like to try flashing the card with a known, working bios.
