Well, eerm.. thank you for letting us know. Could you do some (real life) game benchmarks? I know the forum would be very happy with it (me too)
-
i'll installing OS in the afternoon
just a problem with the alimentation cable witch doesn't feel with my "wall hole" (i dont know the english word sorry) -
Power socket? Hmm... did you order it from a different country?
-
What kind of power outlet do you have and what kind of power cord did they sell you? (Pictures could help...) -
YAY!! benchmarks plzzz! congrats!!
-
common man... post ! u must be havin too much fun with it to post. anyways when u get a chance us ppl who are bored at work would love to see some pics, reviews, and scores
ur so lucky -
any chance of pictures?
-
There is a thread in the Sager forum with pics and screenshots, etc
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=134370 -
i know i know .. just wanna see another set of pix
-
Ah, the computer was bought from a shop in Switzerland... from what I can see.
-
yep
and i'm from France
-
Le français est ma langue maternelle.
Ok, back to English. I'm really curious. Did you get documentation in French with your machine? If it is in French, was it translated correctly? In Québec, we constantly have to fight for good translations.
I'm from Québec but I've been living in the US for 10 years. Since I live in the US, I don't care whether the documentation I get is in English-only but I'm curious about your situation.
Regarding the wall plug situation, I'm not familiar with the standards used in Switzerland and France so can't help with that. -
Does it look like this?
You should be able to get an adapter in any electronics or hardware store. something like this should work well:
-
yes it's like this !
3D mark 06 score :3491 -
would you recomend this laptop?
-
-
Yes, what exact resolution did you do the 3dmark06 test at? And at what clock levels did you have your graphics card set at...overclocked or not?
-
How much memory is in yours?
-
I bet it is 1280x800. It is exactly the score i would expect for 1280x800.
-
yeah we need to know the res and clock speed because stock the clock speed is set to half of the g1s and the score u got is almost the same, which is awesome if u are useing the default res and clock speeds!!!!
also please post the full specs of your machine.
thanks -
-
THANKS for the specs! what res did u do the mark test at? did u leave the gpu speed stock or have u been over clocking it?
-
no overclocking
i'm in 1280*800 -
-
hmm idk. I read someones screen shot of the g1s running at 700 mhz at 68 degrees stock, and then another guys compal at like 399 mhz and 60 degrees:

Can we get the clock specs of the cards? Is it stock as shown on the nvidia site?
-
isnt that what i jsut posted or do u mean what nvidia says they should be?
-
The IFL90 uses 512MB vram running at 400mhz (double pumped to 2x400 = 800mhz)
the G1s uses 256MB vram running at 700mhz (double pumped to 2x700 = 1400mhz)
Nvidia only list the maximum the ram can run at. -
So we need to determine if the IFL90 can be overclocked safely from 400mhz to 700mhz. I must admit, I do not think it can even come close.
-
Max I have seen is about 512mhz. I dont think it is the same kind of vram. Some say it is GDDR2 for the IFL90 but RVTune says it is GDDR3.
-
in his screen shot it even said gddr3 so idk
-
Right, that is why I was asking before if RVTune even knows what the hell it is doing, or if it just is preprogrammed with what it thinks the graphics card has. Clearly, the Compal 90 has gddr2 ram if it is so underclocked.
-
starting to agree w/ u ... they owuldnt underclock it so much if it was gddr3
-
they owuldnt underclock it so much if it was gddr3
You have to remember that the G1S is targeted at gamers and has a short battery life. The Compal isn't targeted just at gamers, has the same components with a much longer battery. Underclocking the video would reduce power and produce a more balanced machine. -
-
A more balanced machine yes...but then why would we not be able to simply OC the card back to what asus has it at. If they are the same card, we should be able to do that with ease. And as of yet, the only data we have shows that the compal 90 can only go from 400 to 514mhz....the asus is stock at 700mhz. Needless to say, the IFL90 comes with an adequate, yet ham-stringed 8600gt card.
-
I haven't read where they were only able to clock to 514mhz - can you post the link? Wave - where did you see the 512mhz?
-
I was referring to Wave's post. I assume he has data to back it up.
-
Assuming is way too easy. It would be nice to see statements backed up by an authoritative source.
-
I didnt say it was the max I just said it was the highest I had seen. I cant find the review anymore. I think it was for a Zepto 6224W but I think it has the same card as the IFL90.
This thread has IFL90 overclocking info.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=132979
they reached 495mhz for the memory. -
Unfortunately the article that was used as a source in that thread is no longer online. :-/ I did not read it when I first read the thread but now I wish I did...
-
Google cache still has it:

enjoy reading! -
Thanks for the cache link.
See the following capture:

I see a core speed of 513MHz and if I recall correctly that was without overclocking. Those French guys are reporting a core speed of 475MHz. I don't know why there's a discrepancy but that would suggest that we have to take their results with a grain of salt. -
but the clock speed everyone is talking about is the memory. its underclocked by 300mhz.
-
It seems that there have been several variations on what a 8600M GT really turns out to be in an actual machine. The fact that the stock core frequency is different on their machine suggest that perhaps they got an early unit which has some slightly different specs than what Compal plans to ship in full production. You may remember that for a long time nobody knew for sure what graphic card precisely Compal was going to put in their machines. We did not learn what it was actually going to be until pretty close to the date the machine started shipping to dealers.
If one spec is different, then what else is different??? If in fact the hardware is exactly the same then maybe they screwed up somewhere in their reporting and then that puts in doubt the rest of their report. I'll feel much more comfortable about what can and can't be done once someone with what we know to be the final product can do some testing. -
maybe it has to do with what this user posted:

513mhz in RVtune = 475 in ATI Tools?
IFL90- i have mine
