Today Zepto can announce that ANY customers who have already ordered a 2.2GHZ (T7500) or 2.4GHZ (T7700) WILL have their notebooks delivered with these processors. We have found a solution for this and we do NOT expect any problems to arise from this. HOWEVER this solution is not practical for us as a company due to the time involved so from today the 14" notebooks (6024,6324,6224) will have the options of 1.8GHZ (T7100) and 2.0GHZ (T7300). Please remember that this does not effect the 15" notebooks in any way and the 2.2GHZ and 2.4GHZ can still be ordered.

    Thank you for the info.

Can you tell us what the problem is/was? and how it was fixed?

Seems like a temporary solution, since the 2,2 and 2,4 GHz C2D's won't be avaible for choosing. But i guess that it's still good news. :)

Good to see the T7300 will still be available! Hoping it wont result in a higher price as its now the "high-end" resolution.

I'm guessing it wont be made more expensive, since making it the best solution doesn't make it high-end :)
edit: argg you beat me to it :p

I think the t7500 and even t7700 will be available again to order also. Might take same time but I think they will come. zepto recieved their first shipment and they had this problem. Next shippment might also have the same problem but hopefully after that Foxcom will fix it.

I would like to put in an order for the 6224 but first can Zepto confirm if we will see the 160GB 7200rpm SATA Harddisk as an option in the near future. If so how soon?

wave - what's your guess/understanding of what was the fundamental problem here that is too time consuming to undertake for new orders?

    Petrov.

My guess is this (just guessing nothing more):

It is a bios problem that makes the T7500 and T7700 not work. There is a bios update that fixes the problem.

Now Zepto has the problem to get the barebones updated. Ofcourse you cant update the bios with a T7500 because the CPU doesnt work. So to build a t7500 system Zepto needs to first use a T7100 to setup the system and update the bios. Then take the laptop apart again and replace the T7100 with the now working T7500. All this takes alot of time. Too much time to be cost effective but for the orders already done Zepto is willing to do it.

Futuer stock will come with an already updated Bios.

Again this is not a fact but just a guess. It is the only thing I can think of to fit what Zepto is telling us.

would the T7300 get less hot if the same trick is applied ?
I am likely to run the machine at relatively high temps this summer (28~30*C), so can you provide some more information, Zepto ?

The issue was that the bios processor settings where not correct. As such the initial bios did not support the bigger cpu’s correctly.

We got a bios now which is working, however to ramp up production and yield we’ll stick to the smaller cpu’s, especially now when we are heavily backordered, we have to make sure we can deliver promptly..

Does it mean that sooner or later you are going to offer the option for a 2.2 or 2.4 Ghz again? If so, when could it be?

I was waiting just to know if the 2.2 or 2.4 were going to be an option (because of the heat) before ordering my laptop. Now I find I should have ordered mine 2 or 3 days ago instead of asking... is there a way I could order those CPUs?

I ordered my 6224 with T7500 a week ago in Holland(before this issue was announced), but the status of the T7500 was red. And the problem is that you can still order the T7500 in the .NL site. So my question is will I receive the 6224 with t7500 or not? :(

    Like ZeptoUK said:
ANY customer includes you too. If you need more assurances call Zepto NL or Zepto DK.

And I am sure now that the T7500 and T7700 will be sold again in the near futuer. Zepto just needs to get to a normal just in time production schedule and then they will give us the options back.
