    Hello Zepto,

I would like to offer my humble suggestion to improving your already interesting line of notebooks. I am assuming that many of Zeptos customers are quite tech-savvy persons who appreciate the possibility to assemble their own configuration.

I think that others than myself would like to see the modular-bay flexibility that Fujitsu and Dell among others offer on some of their notebooks. With Fujitsu and Dell you can often remove the built-in optical drive and replace it either with an extra battery or with an internal hard disk enclosure, enabling users to run 2 harddrives in their notebook and having easy access to the secondary harddrive.

I realize that enabling a modular bay battery probably is not possible on existing models (but could be implemented in future models). However, the internal hard disk enclosure maybe could be implemented for existing high-end models?

Bother technology, they need to work on reliability and customer service.

In the 18 months i've had a 6214 its been back 3 times. That was after a 2 month wait for the machine in the first place and some ridiculous mess-ups with the courier service. It's there again at the moment, it's been there for two weeks and they say it will be another two weeks before it even gets looked at.

I've whinged about zepto a number of times before on here. But for some reason it seems to take away the pain a little. I can safely say that i will never consider another zepto computer.

I agree with the OP. A standard battery to replace the optical drive would be a useful enhancement to any notebook and would give a useful increase to the battery run time. I am a bit puzzled why more manufacturers have not already gone down that route. Maybe it's because the sales of the batteries are low (because the price is usually unreasonably high).

The battery would need a separate connector system and some modification to the internal power supply system. While a HDD may work through the existing optical drive's standard connector, this is PATA while most new HDDs are SATA and would need a separate connector.

Personally, I would prefer the bay battery. If you are travelling with the optical drive then it is less baggage to have the second HDD in a separate USB or eSATA enclosure than to carry the optical drive separately.

Yeah Battery would definitely be a great option for future enhancements.
