My HGL-30 does not retain the correct time after shutdown. I'm assuming this is a dead CMOS battery, but the laptop was purchased less than 3 months ago. I've seen desktops go 5 years without needed a new battery. Any ideas? Also, anyone know where the battery is located?

Sounds like a dead CMOS battery to me. Get in touch with your reseller, they should be able to send you a new one and walk you through the replacement.

Does it keep the time of when it was shut down and just not advance it? I had the same problem with my HEL 80 turned out to be the motherboard you should check with your reseller regardless and see what they say.

Actually, I just discovered another problem. I can set the windows clock to the correct time and within a couple hours, without any change to the power state (shutdown, standby, etc), the clock resets itself to an incorrect time. I have disabled the internet time and this has not alleviated the problem.

Definitely give your reseller a call. They should be able to help you troubleshoot the problem quickly or arrange for warranty service.

My Laptop did the same thing the other day. Some how it moved from eastern time to central and would *update* to the correct time after i changed it to the right time. once i moved it to eastern time, set the correct time i never had a problem again. Hope this helps you out.
