My 6024W's infra-red transceiver has two channels. One is set to HP HSDL-1100/2100 and the other is SIR transceiver. The remote control for my Samsung X60 plus works for basic forwards / backward functions. I don't know which channel that uses. It is unfortunate that Zepto don't offer a compatible remote.

The transceivers support a number of channels as shown on the attached and I am wonder which available remote devices will work with the Zepto. I have fond HP Express Card remotes on ebay. Does any Zepto owner have access to an HP remote and see if it will work?

    Thanks,

    John

    I'm giving this a poke.

Surely there are some people who have access to other notebook remote controls which they can test with their Zepto?

The macbook pro remote doesnt work for 6224W. I set up the IR same as what the macbook pro has under bootcamp but for now no reaction. I will play with it more later.

Do you have the IR showing in Device Manager - see the first post.

I didn't do anything to get the basic functionality working for the Samsung remote - it just worked. However, I suspect that is because something is pre-configured as a Human Interface Device.

I decided to give this HP remote control a try. It two weeks to come from the far side of the USA (of which eight days have been in UK).

Initially, I was puzzled because I couldn't find the list of options I had previously found. Then I looked in the BIOS and found that the Infra Red has disabled by default, so I enabled it.

I worked through the different remote control options that I had previously posted but the selection doesn't seem to make much difference. Anyway, the conclusion is that the HP remote partly works:

    The cursor controls work
    OK acts as enter
Audio up / down / mute work
    Stop works for DVD playback
    Backwards works in Firefox
And the off button put the computer into hibernation

Since my most likely use is for stepping though a PowerPoint presentation, and that works OK, I'm reasonably happy with this investment, which will now live in the card slot.

I hadn't thought of that. My phone has Bluetooth but I have never considered adding extra software.

This was one of the reasons why my laptop had to have bluetooth. Though I've only played around with this with my k800, it works well with the exception of mouse precision.

I also used my phone to create a PAN while I was on vacation and wanted to check mail. While not fast, it sure was expensive :)
