I have tried to use the infrared connection with my mobile, a Nokia 5140i. The computer only seems to recognise the phone intermittently and when it does images from the phone fail to send. In device manager everything seems to be enabled and the device is working properly. Any ideas how I can make this work?

Have you installed the BlueSoleil software which should be on the Zepto driver CD? Also check whether what is on the Zepto FTP site is newer.

I thought BlueSoleil was only for Bluetooth and not infrared. I will check the FTP site anyway to see if there are newer drivers, but I would have thought these would have been installed when the computer was built, which was only about a month ago.

Quite right! My brain must be a bit jet lagged! :( I'll try again. There's a lot of infra-red options in Device Manager. You might want to try some different settings.

Have you found a solution yet for this problem? I have the exact same phone, and the exact same laptop and cant get any transfer working either.

I have tried installing the latest drivers from ftp.zepto.dk, but when i let windows search for drivers in the map where i exctracted the driver, there is no copatible driver found, it doesnt even work when i try the entire "Have disk..." method.

I am under XP Pro SP2.

And it is not the mobile phone, it worked with my older laptop (Toshiba)

(@ above, cir = infrared but what is fir?)

    Found the solution...

You need to set the trasceiver to Vishay TFDS-6500 and lower the rate to 115.200

And after a reboot, it worked fine.. :)

I have tried everything to get this working with my phone but will try this as soon as I can. Where exactly do you make these changes to set the transceiver?

    <Windows-key> + <R> (run command)

    type in:
    devmgmt.msc

    - locate the category Infrared-Devices and double click on the device named IrDa Fast Infrared Port (or whatever it is called)

    - go to the advanced tab, there you will see:
    Code:
    Infrared Transceiver A
    Infrared Transceiver B
    Maximum Connect Rate
    - set both Transceivers to Vishay TFDS 6500 and the Maximum connect reta to 115.200
(i just set both transceivers to this, dont know if you'll need to set both)

    - click OK, reboot and now it should work
