I'm pretty sure the system has an integrated microphone in it and was just wondering if anyone has used it and how it was. I'm looking to get a headset and if the microphone is any good I don't see any reason to get a headset when headphones would be fine.

The mic works great. I was using it to do a video chat a couple weeks ago and had to turn down the sensitivity just a touch because it was picking up everything. So I don't think a headset is going to be necessary. I mean, unless you want an extra edge of dorkiness for no good reason. ;)

Thanx. Will have to start looking at headphones now. The ones that go in your ears have to be adjustable. Unfortunately, my ear canals are rather small :( Anyone got any suggestions on a good pair?

How about the iPod earbuds? Would that work for you? That's what I stick with.. Otherwise the Apple store does have a nice selection of alternatives. I can't remember the name, but they have a set of really nice earphones for about $100. If it hits me, I'll let you know.

Hmm. I didn't know the whitebook comes with an intergrated mic. How do I turn it on/use it? I don't remember seeing drivers for a mic.

Hopefully, I'll finally be able to ditch my headset...

If you have your Realtek drivers installed you should be able to go into its control panel and you will see three tabs across the top and the microphone is the last one.

You can get into the control panel by either clicking the red speaker in the system tray or switching to the "Classic View" of you control panel and you should see something for Realtek
