The question is simple. Can we install Intel Core Extreme processor on IFL90? Because Dell XPS 17something, with the same soket, supports:T7300,T7500,T7700,Intel Core Extreme processors.

Yes, but most of the time the time/money trade-off isn't worth it.

can you expand that a little more? I was under the impression that ICE processors were even better than quad core (no? bad impressions then :p )

Regardless, can you explain the benefits/negatives of upgrading to the Extreme processors?

    This goes to anyone.

And what about temperatures? Is IFL90 cooling system good enough for Intel Core Extreme processor?

The only real value of an Extreme processor is if you can overclock it, which you cannot in an IFL90. Without overclocking you will notice very little difference in performance, and the price tag is way too high.

Anyone wanting an Extreme processor that they cannot overclock has clearly fallen into the Intel® Testosterone Trap™ :D

So... It is the same processor like T7500? But with a little bit more Mhz? Or I missed something?

 Not OC for the Extreme Processor it's already pushed to the edge and it will increase performance in your notebook.
Overclock is not possible with the mobile version of the Extreme pro-version.

Last time I checked, the only reason to buy a mobile extreme is because of its unlocked multipliers that allow you to overclock. They are not pushed to the edge, most people get a few hundred more mhz out of them.

    My fault.
The OC option is still possible, with the clock ratio unlocked.
Meaning you can push it further then it's .............
But keep in mind the speed of an extreme Processor when doing OC the temp will rise inside the notebook.
