Ok, im finally at that point were i can get my lappy lol...one question, whats the difference in these...

    1.66 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo T5500 2MB [ + £20.00 ]
    1.83 GHz Intel® Core™ Duo T2400 [ + £45.00 ]

i will be using graphic design programs like photoshop and storing video and maybe 3d images during my course, im trying to go cheap u see. should i dish out for the 1.83?

Hmm i see your dilemma. i think stick with the core 2 duo if you can wait as it is supposed to be 8-10% faster than its core duo comparative- the t2300- so they are probs the same speed to the point you wouldn't notice.
Plus whe you plan on selling your laptop the core 2 duo will be worth more because its the next gen.

For gaming its the GPU thats the weakest link in the chain but the 7600 is very strong. Dual core processors are so powerful even the slower ones will breeze through anything. For example my virus program started scanning without me knowing until it came up with the results whereas before on my 3200 amd 64 i would have certainly noticed!

ok so id be safe going for the cheaper 1.66 core duo 2? because i think i should go for the 100gb hardrive so i can save all my uni stuff and have those games i mentioned running smooth too.

Oh and to add somehing have you considred this
    http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/HP_Student_Bundle_3_Enhanced_BUN-STUDENT-HP3E/version.asp
If you are from the UK i think this is probably a better deal as the 7600 on the zepto you want is underclocked slightly whereas the x1600 on this hasnt.
For 20GBP more you get a similar speced laptop but 3yea warranty, mouse, anti virus and a OS.
I would rate that as marginaly better value but its really up to you. Though zepto are still a fantastic company.

Are you talkng about a 720rpm HD? Because if s you won see much improvment in games but in general tasks such as transferring files you will find it quicker.

**** it i am in a dilemma whether to buy an acer aspire 9114WLMi or Zepto 6615WD with 2Ghz memrom and 2 Gb ram. Only problem is the warrenty as with Acer repair at your home and more reliable whereas Zepto new to the UK and Nusystem being british weak link.

Get the zepto. acer build quality is a bit dodgy. Some people have no problems whereas some have loads of problems

The cards are about the same to avoid argument but both will breeze through any games for a wee while. 80gb is a lot of games worth so you might not fill it but i you do it wouldnt be difficult to upgrade to a 120gb hd.

    I have just found this:
    http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=3382-6301
Its great value and it wouldnt cost much to get and exta gig of ram. However itis a bit of an unknown quantity so it may be a bit risky. Great value though!
Or this which is a higher spec with 2 gb or ram bigger HD and a 2 ghz dual core: http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=3385-5001
