For the past few weeks, I had been using ethernet to connect to the internet on my IFL90, but I recently started to use WiFi again, and it seems to be dropping signals pretty often. For example, in the past 15 minutes, it dropped 3 times. No other computer on my network drops the signal, so it shouldn't be my router. I've done some searching but am still unsure as to what the problem is, but I have a feeling that the card may be loose. I'm not completely sure, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/suggestions.
Thanks

1. You should move this thread to the networking & wireless thread.
2. It could be that the router has been moved, or some recent changes in the house is changing the AP antenna's pattern.
3. Verify also that you are transmitting maximum power.
4. Perhaps your link is suffering interference (e.g new WiFi users in the neighborhood), try to change the channel. -
I had this problem at my parents' house. What encryption is the wireless network using? Apparently, if you select one of the modes of encryption without changing some other settings, something in Vista gets upset and disconnects every 2 minutes or so (except when it doesn't -- I have no idea why).
Try disabling the security features of the wireless network for an hour or two. If the problem disappears, you probably have the same issue. If not, you have something else -- but it sounds awfully similar. -
If you remove all security from your wireless link you are exposing your network to hackers/cracker's attack.
How did you fix the problem at your parent's? Just left all security off?
Having said that, zonearlarm (antivirus) is well known for causing internet malfunction, you must set it up correctly, otherwise it will fight you. -

I didn't put this in the Networking and Wireless thread because I thought it was a hardware problem. The thing is, no other computer in the house has this problem. As a matter of fact, I'm getting a better signal from this notebook than any other computer. It's just that it randomly disconnects from time to time. Between the time I last posted and now, it hasn't disconnected at all. And it only disconnects for about a second, and then immediately reconnects.
And also, the network is WPA. But, are you guys sure it's not a hardware problem? -

Try to switch the BT mode off, and use only the Wlan options.

Is it dropping the signal to every network or only your own?

Sorry for the slow reply. I haven't tried out any network but my own. Yesterday, I used it on WiFi for all day, and the only time I lost a connection was when the power went out. So, it's not going out nearly as much as it did the day before. Also, BT mode was off at the time. I could try to turn off the security and change it to WEP, but the problem is that I don't think I'll be able to see if the problem is fixed or not since I've been maintaining a constant connection. I'll try it out today and see if I drop the signal at all.

Try to turn BT on and see if the signal is dropping/out or dropping.
Please don't change the WEP/WPA this isn't causing the issue/problem. -
I didn't change any network settings. Thing is, I haven't dropped any signals since the first post, but it was constantly happening before that. I'll turn BT on and see if anything happens.
Thanks everyone for the help so far. -
can you post your settings from the device manager for the wifi card for us.. it may help us help you..
