I want to upgrade my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card with Intel WiFi Link 5300.

Did anybody have any experience with it?
May i install it on IFL-90? Will it fit my mini pci port? Will the antenas fit?

It will work with Intel GM45/GM47/PM45 chipsets according to another eBay sale. Our chipset is a PM965.

Because it works on XPS1530 with the same chipset . Or may be i am wrong? -
It doesn't say anything about Intel WiFi Link 5300. And as Jernkar said I don't think you could do that because it is designed only for Montevina platform. AFAIK

ok. Thank you.
But i will ask an ebay seller of this item.
I want it because the price is good and it is big update from what i have now. -
Buy it, try it, and if it doesn't work, resell it.

Chipset doesn't have to do anything with WiFi, they told me same thing about EL80 and 4965AGN, and I'm setting in front of one right now with N connection; and it only has 2 antennas instead of tree. Chipset is only getting clean data ready for use and all other is laid on the WiFi card itself.

Intel Wifi Link 5300 is working fine in the xFL9x, only be sure to uninstall the older version of the driver and download the new driver before installing the new hardware.

Make sure the BIOS for the notebook is using the latest version 1.18 -
What are the improvements over the 4965agn?

I bought one and tried it for a couple of weeks now. At home it works great and places where you have a good strong signal, it's OK. But sometimes I have to connect in poor conditions or with a weak signal it doesn't work as good as the 4965AGN did in the same locations. It would take forever to load a page, so I put the 4965 in and it would load immediately. I would have to say the 5300 worked as good as a Atheros but not as good as a 4965AGN.

Good to know.

Thank you, Jernkar. I was thinking to upgrade my 5920G's 3945ABG to 5300, but now I know, that the 4965AGN is the better choice

Excuse me for the late input, but i have no chance to test it, because i bought it, install it and sold the notebook.
Now i have MBP.
