When you connect a Laptop to an HDTV with VGA to VGA, is it possible to record what's being shown on the HDTV with a screen recorder hardware like an HD PVR or DVR? I was wondering if I can record my Laptop that way because there's some games that lags when I use a screen recording software. I was thinking if I use an HD PVR, I can record the HDTV screen without lagging the game. My Laptop is a Thinkpad T60 and the HDTV is a Samsung 5000.

I think teh answer to your question is no because what you see on the HDTV is just whats on your laptop but on a bigger screen so to capture whats showing on the HDTV would still require screen capturing software on your laptop. HTH
