I recently installed service pack 2 in my Averatec 6128H1 (Staples-Averatec) and it seems that there is some kind of issue with the modem, that simply stopped working. Anyone that has experienced the same can share some insight?

    Thanks

This is sadly a common problem. There are other topics in the networking and/or software forums on this. I think the best solution is to ask Averatec for an upgraded driver. In the meantime, you'll probably have to revert to a pre-SP2 state.

Seriously i hv no clue how to work the modem, because i dont evne use the modem because i just dont seem to see the use for it. Anyways, i believe if you can hv a chance you should just exchange for a new one. I highly recommand you to do that.

I have the 5400 and my modem doesn't work since i've upgraded to sp2. Also i have to manually turn off the laptop now, another sp2 issue. Good luck trying to get averatec technical support to help you. I called them about the problem, and after i explained to the tech that sp2 doesn't work, his answer was to uninstall it. Then kept yelling at me that there's nothing wrong with their laptops the problem is with service pack 2.
