Hi folks, I'm hoping you can give me the straight scoop on build quality of the JFL92. I'm very close to buying one of these from Xotic to replace my old ABS laptop, but I just don't know much about the Compal. It's either this or a Thinkpad T61P. The prices are within a couple hundred bucks, so it's really going to come down to which one's going to give the best service/experience.

    TIA.
    Jim

Personally I would go with the Thinkpad.

It is a quite resilient laptop, but if what you are looking for is durability, I would suggest going for the magnesium build of the t61p too.

the t61 is definitely more durable, but jfl92 isn't fragile either.

Thanks folks. Once again, this place comes through with an honest assessment.

I think I'm still leaning toward the Sager though. Durability is important, but I'm not going to be tossing it around or really even moving it around much. After seeing you're comments, it sounds like it's a well built machine, which is really what I'm trying to get a feel for. My ABS, while it's lasted 4 years, has been, shall we say tempermental. I'm hoping to avoid that with the next machine.
