EDIT: Problem solved, uninstalled wireless drivers and reinstalled them. When connecting to wireless router and being prompted on whether or not to reconfigure the device I chose no this time instead of choosing yes all the other times.
As of last summer the wireless connectivity between my laptop and my wireless router in the downstairs portion of my house was perfectly fine. I could stream youtube videos and other media seamlessly. In late August I returned to the college dorms for school and have had no problems with the wireless there, then again in the hallway there is a wireless access point right outside of my suite's door so that might add to the fact that I've never noticed any problems.
When I returned home a couple of days ago for Thanksgiving break, I had to re setup the wireless system at home for whatever reason was happening. My dad's laptop now works fine wirelessly, the home desktop has full connection to the internet, but for some reason my laptop is like dragging a dead body across the internet. I put my dad's laptop right next to mine and did a test on speedtest.net His machine was pulling anywhere from 10-15 mbs for download and about 2-3 mbs for upload. Mine is pulling about 0.75 - 2 mbs for download and about 1mbs for upload.
I know that the signal from the router reaches my room just fine and dandy because of testing it side by side with my dad's, and I have no idea what is going on. Do I need a new wireless card installed on my laptop?
