Just got this laptop last week. Cannot get the modem to work. Everytime I try to connect, it blue screens and reboots to Vista. Error message is always different in the blue screen. Contacted Sager tech support for help. They asked what I did to the laptop. Upgrade the video drivers, removed trial of MS Office, installed my copy of MS Office, and my son installed a game.
They weren't happy that I was adding /deleting software. Said that may be my problem.

This laptop will be for my son for College. So he won't be able to put any software on the laptop that he needs for class?

Can anyone offer any help? I really don't want to get involved with this since its supposed to be under warranty.

    are they retarded or what?

Are you talking about integrated 56k modem? If so, then try to upgrade your Realtek HD drivers, you can find them on their website.

Yes. The integrated modem. As for their website, all it shows is...

    VISTA 32/64 BIT Audio Driver for Windows VISTA 32BIT / 64BIT 6.0.1.5636 11-Aug-08 35327 KB

    Is this what I need?

I've been trying to install/re-install the modem drivers. Everytime I try to connect, I keep getting a blue screen with a different error message. No way to pinpoint the problem.

It worked!!! I got the Realtec driver. Un-installed the modem, rebooted, Vista installed generic modem drivers. I installed the Realtec drivers then the modem drivers again. This time, it seems the modem drivers "caught." And the modem works now.

Thank you very much Njoy. I haven't been to England in over 20 years. If I ever get there again, I'll look you up and buy you a pint.
