    I have
    JHL90
    9600M GT ddr2
    T7300
    4GB ram

The ddr2 graphics card is bottleneck, I am thinking about upgrade, so will HD3870 ddr3 version work?

The 9600M GT DDR2 is the bottleneck, that's true, especially since they only put in a DDR2 version of the card. However, if you look at the User Manual for the JHL90 you see it has only a MXM v2.1 Type II slot.

The HD3870 is MXM v2.1 Type III. However, there is no difference in the connectors, so it may run but there is still another problem that you will not be able to overcome: The HD3870, being Type III, is considerbly longer than the 9600M GT and there would simply be no space for the card (look at the User Manual, there is like 1 cm between the end of the 9600M GT and the laptop case. On top of that you would have to craft a fitting copper heatsink all by yourself. Or pay for a custom made one, but nobody provides such service.

The only reasonable upgrade would be a Mobility Radeon HD 4670 with GDDR3. But that's almost impossible to find.

Problem is, that this card will be in all probability a HD 4650 with DDR2 which is only marginally faster than your 9600M GT DDR2. It would not be worth the money, I'm sorry. Make really sure that it is a GDDR3 version before you buy it - meaning let the seller send you a detailed picture of exactly the card he is selling so you can read which memory chip is on the card and figure out if it is GDDR3 or not.

    Thanks.

When i bought that laptop i watched 9600m gt benches and they were good, but all of them were gddr3. And I didn't know that there were two versions. I'll make sure I don't get some ddr2 version. :)
