Just got my K|N QX9300 Nagamaki

i was trying to wait, but i think i may just go with the gtx's and call it a day...

i wish we had cpu over clocking on the np9262's....

 

This is one thing I don´t like about the 9262.
The BIOS is way to restrictive.
For such a professional and pioneering high end notebook you would think the BIOS is more flexible.

Does BIOS overclocking work with the OCZ Whitebook or is it only possible with third party software?

 

From what I've read on KN.com and GoG forums it's overclockable in the bios no special software required.

yes, it's over clock able somewhere alright (bios that is)(and turbo button on select models). did you get a peek at his fsb speed??? 1600 mhz unless of course it's a miss read.... software tends to do that from time to time. just think what we could do with 1600 mhz fsb.

say hooper: when you get a chance, can you run 3dmark06/vantagemark at stock cpu of 2.53 ghz. i was curious as to whether or not anything would change. thanks in advance!

 

If I could run my 9262 at 1600Mhz FSB I wouldn´t even consider the Whitebook
Are you sure you can´t overclock the 9262 in BIOS if the QX9650 is installed?

...the 1600Mhz for the Whitebook must be a misread because next to it reports the CPU freq. as 0Mhz.

Yeah, that was one letdown with the D901c. Someone here installed a QX9650 on the D901c, but couldn't OC it because the BIOS locked the multipliers (even though the multipliers on the CPU are unlocked). So performance is no different than with a Q9650.

 

well there you have it! no bios over clocking with an extreme cpu.... at least the gateway 6860/6831 had this....

 

Let me clarify the 7FPS oin Very High. The game had a corrupt install and still ran at that.

I am goign to exchange or buy another copy today or tommorow. I bet $10 to a donught hole that I will get it up to at least 15+ FPS all on Very High.

no crymods just install and run your bench. crysis is at it's rawest when ran as the original when it came out on dvd.

 

Yea its giving me alll kinds of errors saying to put in the orginal disk, all the updates say that I dont have a legitite copy and it errored out on the 3rd loop saying its an issue with crysis I will screenshot them all so you can see what I am saying. The batch file itself is corrupted.

 

i called on the bios and they had me email them about it so hey could send it to the tech department... so we shall see if anything comes about...not like this probably hasn't been done like 1000 times before, but maybe...today will be the day they change their minds....

as hard as that was to read, I'm pretty sure he said somewhere that the earlier models will have ES chips so that he can get them shipped out quicker before the other guys. I don't see anything wrong with having an ES chip

 

Except for the fact that they are still not considered finished by Intel. It could have bugs that are wrong with it. On the other hand, it could have bugs that help you out a lot more (ocing and such)

I want to keep you guys up to date with the best most recent benchamarks etc.

Here is why. I spent months of time figuring out which laptop to buy. I talked to almost every builder and every reseller and in the end I decided to lay out my hard earned cash to Mark.

I couldnt have been in better hands.

We have had extensive phone calls testing this (Me running My OCZ and him running the 9262 as I had orginally ordered both but he told me his opinion and I am glad I didnt let my hard head get in the way and I will be ending up with 2 OCZ whitebooks.)

We also aren’t talking about a base 9262 but one built to win.

I read benchmarks form many distributors and builders including the Worlds fastest notebook challenge.

Here is what I will also say: You have to realize how long the 9262 has been out and how many bios updates and mods have been done. This thing still meets and beats it in almost every single area.

Here are some of the MODS exclusively with K|N that have really put this over the top for me:

1. Custom heatsink mod- I cant wait to see some of the temps of the other systems in comparison to this one. Also don’t forget this is QUAD core as opposed to duel. I am betting that this is running cooler than the duels. I have ran benchmark after benchmark and I RARELY hear the fans at full speed only a slight whisper of them. Anyone that says it doesn’t work is dillusional seriously.
2. Customer support- Answeres the phone almost every single time I call if it isn’t immediate I receive a return phone call in less that 5 mins most of the time.
3. Core optimization- Every core has a designated task to run or can utilize all of them. That is all Im going to say so we don’t get anyone copying his proprietary program.
4. Noise- Super quiet- I am betting there are some tweaks and mods to keep the beast quiet.
5. Up to date products: Everytime something new comes out I get a phone call from him asking me if it is something I would be interested in and not a sales pitch just stuff he thinks myself as a customer might want. Oh yea not to mention he accompanies them with Benchmarks =)
6. He knows my number, my name, what I do for living, where I live, my family life etc. He answeres the phone using my name and knows my machine inside and out. I don’t have to explain anything to him. He actually knows me as a customer.


This machine is truly the finest piece of machinery I currently have in terms of gaming. Comparing it to anything else is kinda hard.

Lets use a comparison:

I own a Toyota Supra and someone once said on the forum-

If your Supra got beat one day by a old junker with an insane amount of horsepower would you want that over your Supra? Or would you laugh with your Supermodel girlfriend in your passenger seat and say “He might have one that race by an inch But its still a Piece of ****’


I would not have done anything differnetly in my build and will never by another laptop except through K|N it has been an awesoem experience and performance wise I think the benchmarks speak for themselves. =)

It's definitely running cooler than my x9100 (it tops out around 74C).

 

It uses SATA optical drives according to the Flextronics product page.

 

I know for sure that it has the core optimization and heatsink mod. I do not know anything about a sound mod though. I know in past models there was no mod for that so it would be a brand new thing or the machine is just naturally quiet. Either way thats a good thing!

 

Yea its a beast, thats why I hadnt said in concrete wheter or not he put mods on the sound it was putting out. Was just an observation.

I got Warhead installed a few minutes ago. This full PC mark takes forever like 3 hours so havent had time. I know on extreme setting in warhead it was running at APPROX 12 FPS but I didnt get to finish it as someone nicely request the PC Mark

 

It dropped a little I assume form me having the Crysis window up in tha background since I forgot to turn it off. ALso hasnt had a restart all. day so sorry about the lower numbers still a pretty good indication.

 

Sorry, must have missed that post for the single GPU test, but I have been very busy the last couple of months trying to get some business ventures off the ground, not used to working this hard..lol
I could still do it if you want, but that would be pointless now.
Will be getting Fallout 3, Far Cry 2 and maybe Dead Space soon, so I'm gonna have my hands full pretty soon!

These forums are all good except when people are just ripping into each other for no good reason, relax people and enjoy your systems, use them for what they are built for, and game like a mother......

 

i think the "es" may have sent things in a new direction... i had an "es". bought it off ebay. that chip rocked big time. it helped me grab top marks in the 8800m gts class and a few clicks off e-wrecked's 9800m gts scores as well.

 

ya both have the same systems with one difference... on has an es quad and the other a retail x9100. so...can't we just all getalong. and do the happy dance?

But I can tell you WoW runs smooth as silk. Not real graphic intensive but even during Illidian not a single lag spike. Awesoem FPS all the way through I forgot to Fraps it since I just purchased Fraps and am getting familiar with it.

Crysis Warhead: Benchmarks: Yes they are comming: I noticed their isnt benchmarking software like in crysis unless I missed it which one do you want me to use?? (Links help)

I kinda got lost in all the games, I got a new copy of Cyrsis this morning for you guys. Will be re-installing this evening and will benchmark on High.

Fraps if someone knows how to use it and can tell me which button to push etc to get the numbers you guys are looking for let me know. Then tell me where to pull that data from.

I bought a registered verison of fraps too.

fraps... just hit f10 while running around in game. it will take pictures of the screens. make sure it is set to capture the yellow fps counter in the picture as well.
