After dithering for a week or so about various other options for my new home laptop (Dell M4300 was recommended on here, but although I'll mostly be using it for things like software development, I'm sure I'll be using it for various other things as well and I've not heard great things about the graphics card in it; I was then tempted by the ASUS V1S but I didn't fancy the 4200 rpm drive that seems to be the only option in the UK, and couldn't be bothered to deal with upgrading it), I've now taken the plunge and gone for the top end Rizeon IFL92 (T9300, 4GB RAM, 320 GB 5400 rpm drive, 1GN Turbo memory). It was the first laptop that I'd seen that didn't have at least one thing that I wasn't happy with, and it seems a pretty reasonable price too.
Don't know when it'll arrive yet, but I'll let everyone know what it's like when it does.

This is the laptop I'm most likely going to order, its great value for the spec.
If you have the time would you mind posting a review, some benchmarks and maybe upload some pictures?
Cheers -
I've just checked the order and it's due to arrive on 7th March. The race is now on to see whether it arrives before the Asus EEE I ordered from Laptops Direct a couple of days before.
-
It arrived on Friday as promised, but I'm not able to do a full review at the moment as I'm in a bit of a battle to get Vista 64 to work properly (partlicularly the Nvidia card). It arrived fully installed, and worked fine for about half an hour until Vista auto update ran. The machine then refused to boot and nothing I did seemed to make any difference. I gave up and re-installed Vista from scratch. I've now tried this about 4 times, installing the drivers and running Windows Update in various different orders. So far, this has ranged from blank screen when booting unless I remove the Nvidia drivers, to an annoying sort of dotted chequer pattern in window title bars if I try to run Aero transpareny effects.
Anyone else had this sort of problem, and know how to fix it? -
I would install a 32 Bit Vista for the time being, until more drivers support 64.
Also have you checked the Nvidia site to see if they have any updates for their drivers. -
I've checked the Nvidia site and it tells me that I need to download from Compal, but there isn't an FL92 model listed on their site. Can't find anything suitable on the Rizeon site either. -
The IFL92 is based on the Compal JFL92.
Hope this helps. -
Looks like it's something gone wrong with the graphics card, so unfortunately it's going to have to go back.
The guy at Rizeon has been very helpful so far though. -
Did they say when they should have it back to you by?
Also has returning it cost you anything? -
Not yet. It was only picked up yesterday, so they won't have got it until today. No mention of cost, but then I'd hope that there wasn't.
-
Have they said when they should be getting your laptop back to you?
-
It's due back tomorrow
Looks like it was knackered memory on the video board. Hopefully this one will last a little longer. -
How is your laptop now that you've got it back? I just ordered an IFL92 (max spec) so will comment here when it arrives. They said it will be here by thursday... cant wait

you got the max spec? so thats the T9300 with the 4GB RAM i assume, i luv to see some real life pics of the laptop if possible. -
yeah i think mines the same as the guy above, T9300, 4gb, 1gb flash, 320gb hd, 8600GT 512mb
will probably post some pics at the weekend after ive installed everything (i got it os-free) -
Drivers for the JFL92 can be found here- http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/TechSupportDriversDownloadPage.htm#JFL92 as well as drivers for most all Compal laptops. They just recently added the JFL92. Jump to the COMPAL forum for more info. They are by far more knowledgeable than me.
They have 64 bit drivers listed. -
Have you received you laptop back yet? Also is it working without any problems?
Any chance of a review as well? -

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. -
The laptop's back (I've been away since it got back) and looks to be working fine - the guy at Rizeon was very helpful.
Only had a brief chance to play with it, but the performance seems pretty impressive. The three things that brought my last laptop (Asus W1000) to its knees (Photoshop, iTunes could take several minutes to start, and Netbeans could take 30 seconds to switch between windows) all seem to be running MUCH faster. PhotoShop and iTunes are coming up in a matter of seconds and Netbeans window switching is pretty much instantaneous. Not run any benchmarks yet - will post them when I do.
The screen looks great as well - been viewing some photos that I took on holiday, and they look fantastic on the glossy screen.
One minor annoyance (it could possibly be a Vista 64 thing, or something I'm doing wrong) is that the Memory Stick card reader doesn't seem to read Memory Stick Pro cards (or at least the 2gb one that I've tried). It worked fine on a standard card but not on that one. I've got other memory card readers, so it's not a total disaster.
I've also noticed the front of the keyboard (where my left wrist rests) get a little warm during use, but not excessively so and this may just be down to differences in where heatsinks are - my Asus always gets warm near the power button.
Another issue that is definitely Vista 64 related is that there's no driver available for my Canon EOS 20D camera (and none seems to be planned), but that's not Rizeon's fault and a risk I took with chosing that OS. -
-
Unfortunately, I haven't got a suitable copy of XP. I can probably find something to work around most of the problems (such as my external memory card reader that works fine) and I've still got my old laptop lying around if absolutely needed.
-
How your laptop performing? Have you had any other problems with it? Could you post a short review also, if you have the time.
Cheers -
If you want to send your laptop to an early grave, use Itunes....Foobar is so much better
Just ordered IFL92
