About a month ago i ordered a zepto 6214 from a supplier in holland. The estimated delivery time at that point was about 10 workdays (2 weeks). After the first week I (and others that ordered) got the message that there was a shortage on ram so it would take a bit longer to deliver the laptop. People who ordere theire laptop a bit sooner already got it but the ram would be be delivered at a later time.

A week later i got the message that there would be another delay because of a shortage in keyboard in the assembly factory. Some laptops would be delevired with a Uk keyboard instead of the US, but it soon apeared these ran out aswell.

So now I'm still waiting to get my laptop, and the company i ordered it from said it could take 2 to 4 weeks to get it.

The thing i would like to know: did any of you, who dont live in the netherlands, order a zepto 6214 within the last month and already got it delivered?

Did anybody hear something about the keyboard shortage from theire supplier?

I would just like to know this to make sure were not being given some lame excuse for the late delivery.

    Hey

I can positively confirm, that it is not some sort of an lame excuse. The keyboards needs to be build in the East, and chinese new year, which lasts for 14 days, ended in the beginning of this week. So they have a lot of backorders to handle.

So you can trust your local supplier, that he is telling the truth.

    Best regards

I ordered my zepto through denned.nl (an alternative supplier, though I doubt there is any real difference, they just tend to react really quick on emails) on the 5th of february. I had some problems getting the money wired over but I finally got it 22th.

I did however specifically order the Belgian keyboard. That been said, I don't think the ETA on the site is quite as accurate as it could be. I think it's a best case scenario really. A more realistic estimate shouldn't be that hard to implement.

Does Zepto have any idea when they will be getting UK keyboards back in stock?

Now they have sorted out the payment options for UK customers I want to order my laptop (and also, possibly one for my wife) but I'm holding off until they have keyboard stock. The website just seems to have a little counter that appears to have started at the wrong day.

I was originally told on the phone "up to two weeks" when the website was claiming that it was up to 20-something days.

Does anyone from Zepto have an update on the UK keyboards?

According to the UK website the UK keyboards are still 6 days away. So someone's been telling porky-pies to lequatter about the 26th.

And now the DVD drives are "more than 12 days" away.

I understand this "just in time ordering" approach, but it seems like something at Zepto has got seriously screwed up for these components to keep going out of stock. I'm purposely not ordering from Zepto until they have the right stock, I wonder if I'm the only one?

Luba have you paid Zepto already? Are you expecting some kind of recompense for having been kept waiting for so long?

A Rock laptop is looking ever more attractive right now.

I had the same problem. Ordered a 6214 end of Feb with UK keyboard. Got an email from Roelof regarding them being misinformed about delivery. Got no new delivery date but only the info that keyboards available around 30.04.

However I switched my order from the black 6214 to the white 6314 cuz those keyboards were available. Got it delivered yesterday. Love it. However the keyboard is the weak point being a bit squichy.

For a company that uses a JIT process, surely they have other suppliers?

After the Toyota Windscreen wiper plant supplier's factory burnt down a few years back, I would have though other companies would have seen the light and ensure they had backup suppliers for every part of the production process.

Literally because of these Windscreen wiper parts not being avaliable, Toyota lost huge sales until they could find alternative suppliers, which was not easy...

Personally, If when I ordered a Zepto, I would immedietely hesitate if every component didn;t have a green light.

JIT, means Just In Time, Not "May come in a few weeks"...
