    Hi,

The brightness controls are on the Fn+F7 and Fn+F8 keys. Is there any way to get feedback as to what the brightness is currently set at?

Once the brightness is changed, how long does it remember where they are set? Until the next boot, or forever? If it spans boots then there much be a value somewhere be it in a file or registry...

I'd love an on screen control of this is it were possible.

the brightness should last as long as u keep the settings.
as on default brightness I am unsure. I know to restore to default you can uninstall/reinstall the driver.

I was just interested in the area of battery life.

As a rule I usually max it out anyway. But it would be good to have some feedback on it or to be able to control it via a utility. I wonder why they don't have that?

Thats what I do, max it out. I just thought it odd that there isn't ever any feedback. Nor is there a software control for it unlike just about everything else on a computer. Maybe it goes directly to hardware.

Thing is, to max it out, I keep pressing it until it just seems to be the brightest. Too bad there isn't a slider somewhere you can set and just forget about it.

Just max it out.. it doesn't affect battery power that much... for me it was about a 10 minute difference.

I'd rather see a nice crisp bright picture rather than strain my eyes with a dim screen to save several minutes.

I would like to do the opposite. I use my notebook a lot at night to read and the screen is way too bright. I use F6 (repeatedly) to dim it, but it only seems to dim about 4 or 5 levels which is still very bright to me. My old Sharp notebook would dim way down and not cause so much eye fatigue at night.

Is there any way to tone the LCD down besides F6? I have the 3300 series.
