    Hi folks,

My left hand scrollpad button on my 6625WD has just gone weird. The springiness seems to have gone. Although it still works, the tactile feel has totally gone. In other words the travel of the button is only about half a millimeter!

Anyone else seen this and know whether it's easily fixable?

    Many thanks for any help.

    you mean touchpad button?

Fixing it can be hard if the button spring has broke (the plastic) but try jiggling and pressing it around. It might just have got stuck

Scrollpad, touchpad, the thing you use your finger on to move the cursor around the screen. :)

I really think the spring is broken, yes. Is that hard to the extent it will need to be returned? Or is there any chance it's user fixable? Not terribly impressive for this to break, especially when you consider how much care is taken on with this machine.

Machine's over a year old so not under warranty any more.

Well ofc you can look what has broke or if it just has went out of place. You will need to get off the whole palmrest (=disassemble the laptop) to get to the button mechanisms.

Sorry to labour the point, but I realise the above. What I am trying to ascertain is whether that is a sensible route to go down or am I likely to do more damage than fix it (even as a reasonably competent electronics engineer?).

Also, anyone know of any instructions on how to take it apart? :)
