Ok first Id like to thank everyone in the forums that has posted on this laptop. The feedback and information i read here lead to me purchasing a 6130H1.
First thing i did was replace the 40gb hd with a 5400rpm hd and loaded XP pro Sp2. with all the drivers from Averatec. The Wlan driver didn't work of course so I dl'd the RAlink one, again big thanks on the time saved by reading about it here.
My issue deals with the line out jack on the front. When i hook up headphones or external speakers there is no sound. The built in speakers continue to work fine but I get nothing through the headphones. I sent an e-mail to customer support but no response yet..
I have no idea if the line out worked with the original HD and setup I never went through loading it up, and i do not have access to the original HD at this time.
Any ideas would be appreciated ive gone through all the settings i can find for audio both with the realtek and windows options
Regards
Rick

make sure you are using the left most audio port. you may also have the digital spdif turned on, which disables analog signal, unless you have it set for both digital and analog signal. so check your audio settings.

Rick_T94,
I doubt very seriously that your HD is to blame. I was going to suggest try another pair of phones, but you mentioned that you had tried powered speakers too. Right? Just make sure, that everything else in the 'output chain' - external to the puter is working and confirmed. Cable, plug, powered speakers, AC adapter (on the speakers) are all working properly.
It is possible that in the process of replacing your HD, a wire came loose from the 1/8" output jack inside the puter. Getting to that jack can be tricky - even for the adventurous!
This is another obvious suggestion, but double click the little speaker icon in the systray and make sure the 'Wave' column on the volume control applet DOES NOT have the mute box checked. Sometimes, we all overlook the simple things.
