Now that there's the 8.04 LTS release installed I have to inform that the volume level is and stays at 100%. I cannot adjust it - it's always at the max.

What do I have to do to get it working?

Any hints what to do to get the built in bluetooth working? It's showing up as a BT device but won't pair with my phone(s)...

A quick update on Mandriva and the 6625WD. The 2008.1 (Spring) version even has the sound working on install without any tweaking now.

I have found drivers for the web cam, but although once installed the cam comes up as /dev/video0 it always shows a black screen.

Suspend to RAM works on it now too. :) It's a wonderful fast machine this, it's about as fast as my similar spec desktop.

    Hi
What about Ubuntu 8.10. Does it work on 6224W?
    What about the sound?

Yeah, sound is bugged by default.

Open a terminal (Applications - Accessories - Terminal) and type

    sudo apt-get install module-assistant alsa-source
    sudo module-assistant prepare
    sudo module-assistant update
    sudo module-assistant a-i alsa-source

That should build alsa and after a restart you should be able to adjust volume levels.

Keep in mind: You need to repeat this procedure every time there's a kernel update (linux-image-blabla updates). Maybe there's a way around that but I don't know.

Ubuntu Hardy Heron is working great on my 6224W, everything is working fine, wireless, bluetooth, sound buttons, graphics :) I am even playing World of Warcraft on it now, it is slightly slower than it runs on windows but again I'm happy with 40-45 fps playing that game while everything is maxed :D Only one thing is, using grub as bootloader kinda corrupts the MBR and you cannot access to your optical drive from Linux or Windows, so you should use lilo instead. Compiz Fusion is the coolest desktop manager I've ever used, strongly recommended ;)
