Do I really need all of this that the Customer Service Individual recommended. I understand that it is important to have back up, but $115.00 is chunk of $$$. Would I be alright w/o the 2.0ghz?

I think a 2.0 ghz would be more than alright considering the rest of the specs and save you $$.
I just ordered the PowerPro /IFL90 after considering the Asus G1s. It sealed it when I got to see an Asus G series at Best Buy.
Those flashing green lights are not my style and the panel had a flex distortion that the HP and Sony sitting next to it did not have when I moved the panel a bit-- So ,, after talking extensively with Ron at PNB a couple times, I feel confident in my decision to go with Compal.
Thanks to you guys here on the forum for suggesting this brand. I look forward to my first laptop ;)

P.s I'm a former Dell customer from years ago, and I heard their support is worse now, than then -- I can tell you it was really, really bad back then. Usually if you didn't have a software problem when you called, you did before you hung up... Also, because of Dell support inadequacy, I learned on my own how to change out HDD's, graphics cards and optical drives. Not bad for a 43 yr old mom with no electronic or technical experience whatsoever. ;)

i personally didnt get the backup drive. dont think its worth it...but just me
2.0ghz is very fine. hard to see a difference in the real world between 2.0ghz and 2.2ghz. especially since you have 2gigs and 7200rpm drive.

Go to powernotebooks.com, there you can get the same specs your looking at for much cheaper! just click custom built on the site and then powerpro j 10:15.

This is what I was quoted while speaking with the help there. I believe I'm going to drop the MS Word and get it cheaper elsewhere. I will be dropping the BackUP and maybe getting a smaller hard drive. We'll see. :) Thanks for the comments.
