Not sure if anyone knew this (or if you all already know and I'm late to the party) or even if it is true...but it looks like the Voodoo PC
Envy 1:534 bears a striking resemblance to the Compal HEL80. If this is true than I have to giggle at people spending an extra 1500 bucks on a voodoo instead of getting the same notebook elsewhere.

Interesting. Starting price is $3000 but you do get a custom VooDoo paintjob. They even got some of the specs wrong like LCD resolution and they list it as 6 lbs.

    Thanks for posting that Bhima!

    np!

I still haven't decided on a new laptop yet, but the HEL80 is definitely on the short short list.

you could go to a PC club and see one in person... Thats what I did... I didn't buy from them because I didn't like the price or options they offered for the price or the warranty, or pretty much anything about PC club for that matter, but I looked, and I touched... and it pushed me to buy one =P

I've also heard Best Buy is carrying the HEL80, but I can't remember what they're calling it.

I looked at the Best Buy model myself it is a little strange because of its description of the graphics card but here is the info:

    Velocity Micro - NoteMagix T7200 Notebook L80X
    Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor T7200; DL DVD±RW/CD-RW drive; 15.4" widescreen; 100GB hard drive; Corsair 2GB PC5300 DDR2 SoDIMM; 4-in-1 media reader $1999

I personally would rather order from PNB or Xotic PC and get a reasonable warranty and save around $160 dollars after shipping. Also I have not found a Best Buy that carries it - in person - you can order it from the website. Also I can say that Velocity Micro is a great company and they do make an excellent quality product I have bought computer from them before and they are a quality company.
