Ok, well i figured out the max memory. I ran 3D Mark and hit details on my system spec and it says max is 3gigs on the HEL8X motherboard. But i still want to know if i can upgrade the processor and graphics card.

well....the i945pm definitely supports the 667mhz u cud probably upgrade the t7200 to a t7600 which is advisale only if u get a good trade for ur current cpu....otherwise there wont be a very significant increment in performance....!!
i wud have to find out if that chipset supports the 800mhz cpus....if it does u cud go really high..!! :D
i presume that the mobo has got a socket m....but it would be best to let me know the exact socket through cpuz....probably upload screenshots of the first 3 pages shown by cpuz....that wud be helpful
also download pc wizard 2008 and everest pro trial....and see what do they say about the max supported fsb....!!

sorry i forgot that only socket P cpus are capable of throttling the fsb speeds within the range of 400-800mhz....max for socket m cpus is 667mhz....so the best u can get is a T7600....
u cud probably overclock ur new or current cpu....thats the best u can do..!!
if u have the socket P, only then it wud make sense to upgrade....!!

well grafix card upgrade is not easy even in laptops having discrete grafix....
look out for laptops that have the same motherboard as urs....FOR INSTANCE....my old laptop acer 3680 has 2 more models in common to it from the same family....one having a better motherboard and the other with discrete grafix....
if ur laptop has a senior member in its family then u cud either upgrade to its motherboard or just get hold of its grafix chip....(if it has higher grafix)
grafix card are extremey system specific....u cannot go around upgrading as in a desktop....there is very little scope in a laptop due to scarcity of space....

Well, when i bought the laptop it had a choice between a 512 and the 256 i have now. So i was thinking if i got the 512 that was offered by itself it would work in the laptop.

yeah it shud work....if u can get the service manual of ur laptop or the parts list or the part no. of the 512mb grafix card....u cud google it and probably buy it at a gud price....
or get the part no. of ur current card and google that....u might find its 512mb version as well....

Im not for sure. I don't remember exactly what it was. I know i have the 7600.

EDIT: after some looking around I'm pretty sure that it isn't upgradeable. Thats pretty saddening. I wouldn't go through the trouble of buying a new motherboard and I'm not planing on buying a new laptop anytime soon.

This should answer ur question about the GPU
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=41454

And I wouldn't worry about upgrading your processor unless you do alot of stuff that requires it. You'd see a good boost in performance with at least another GB of ram though.

    And you have a 17" HEL80
