January '07 issue, in a Head to Head feature (pg 16 for you newstand browsers), Maximum PC mag uses a Hel80 to compare the Intel Core Duo T2600 against the Intel Core 2 Duo T7400.
Short take: Significant improvement (up to 30% in some tests) in processor dependent performance, at a minimal 3% loss in battery life.

Thanks for posting that information. Would you mind listing a few of the tests where the C2D clearly outpaced the CD? Maybe even a few where the results were closer too?

Their comments: HL-80 notebook w/ GeForce Go 7600, 2GB DDR2/667, 5,400rpm HD. Tests run were selected for their not being dependent on GPU performance, hence low-rez on the Quake test, and inclusion of ancient 3DMark2001, for example - look at the "CPU" vrs "Overall" results for tests not focused on the video, again.
Nero Recode 2 was used to encode video to H.264/AVC format, whatever that means.... -
That's a great comparison. Thanks for posting it.
