Found one lonely Sams Club store nearby with a 5110H on display. I got to play with it for a good 15-20 minutes. I liked what I saw with only one exception. The display seemed to be slightly washed out. Granted the store lights were pretty bright but the couple of HP's next to the Averatec had much better looking screens. Sams price for the 5110H is $998.83 and an additional 3 year store warranty is only $79, plus they said if I didn't like it I could bring it back anytime within 6 months. Sounded good to me so I said I'd take one, I could live with the pale screen for that price. Then came the problem, seems they only had the one on display and although they did offer to knock $50 off the price I just could not bring myself to buy a store demo. Then, when the customer service person searched the nearby stores inventory there were none to be found. And, to top it off, none of the stores had any on order. Wonder why?
So maybe something was guiding me towards another brand......

wow, but if they let you take it back within 6 months that would be an amazing deal. i know costco does this and many people take advantage of getting a new laptop every six months [ ;)]

the $79 for a 3-year warranty is excellent too. it might be that Sams bought a large lot of these notebooks and sold out fast, there's high demand for that price range of notebooks at the moment.

I beginning to wonder more about this company. This weekend just about every notebook vendor in town has the 3225 flavor on sale for around $799. No one has the 5110 on sale, probably because no one has them. And the couple of stores that do have them only have the one display unit. It appears the stores are simply selling off their existing inventory. After questioning a few sales people in a number of stores they tell me they do not have the 5110's or the 3225's on backorder. Wonder why? Perhaps the sales people don't know or just maybe there is a problem with future production. Anyone have any insight as to the future of this company? The product looks to be a fairly decent buy but I'd hate to buy a $1000 anything & find the company has gone away in six months.

My rationale is that I am fairly familiar with the parts used in the laptop and can find answers to questions on these and other forums faster/better than from customer support at the laptop company. Not sure what the future is for this company, but I do like this product.
