Hi, y'all.
I just want to share my Zepto experience with as many as possible so that someone might avoid the problems I have had. This is my story...
A bit over a year back I purchased a Zepto laptop and the thing I noticed right away was that the touchpad was totally worthless. When just touching the pad the pointer flew over the screen at random and clicked everywhere. Since I had a mouse I didn't bother at the time. And later on this problem went away.
Then I was on my way to control that every device was present in accordence with the sipping manifest. And there was no socket for the cablage I got to for the tv-card. This was strange, so I checked with the manual attaced with the shipping. But that gave no luck since they gave me a manual for a different model, looking completely different, and it was in danish (I brought the laptop from their swedish fraction).
I then booted the laptop with a linux live-cd, and ran lshw which lists all the hardware. No tv-card. I told Zepto about this, and attached all the information I could give, they responded with insulting me by saying that "the socket is suppose to be on the righthand side, have you checked there?", and they did not want to repay me for not giving me the card or giving me the card.
Later I tried to burn my first DVD. Since it in the manifest, and when I brought it, said that I have brought a DVD+-RW DL and all the stuff you want. But what I find is that I only got a DVD reader. I again talk to Zepto about this, and they wouldn't replace the reader with the writer that I brought. Their reason was that I have taken to much time to inform them about this problem, this was just under a year after I purchased it.
Well, when I brought the laptop I for these kinds of reasons also brought their expensive extended warranty services and high priority services, which cost me about ~1000 SEK (~ $150 ). Still, they wouldn't give me the stuff I payed for.
And it still don't end. The computer design of the laptop is really bad. It overheated constantly. The only way to use the computer is to restrict the processor (a core2 duo) to not be able to work at 100% ( 2 GHz ) but instead 1 GHz. When I have paid almost 20 000 SEK for a computer with a cpu @ 2 GHz I expect to be able to run it at 2 GHz!
I'm saying this now, since now the touchpad has been acting the same way as it did when I brought it. That is I can't use it at all.
So, if there are anyone interested in buying a Zepto my advice is: DON'T!
You might get a computer with all the right parts, which some obviously have got, but if something goes wrong, you're screwd.
Don't buy a Zepto!

whoa! Thats some bad computer you've got yourself there. I have several friends who uses Zetpo as gaming laptops and I was very close in buying one myself as a result of my friends good reviews. I choose Asus which I have not regretted. I must say that this case confuses me. I have had the impression that Zepto laptops was generelly of high quality and the service flawless. For instance one of my close friends had a problem with a screen that blacked out and he sent it it monday and had it back fixed wednesday (I should add that he and I live in Denmark where the service center is. Therefor he didnt have any postal delays).
Iessos, I am very sorry for your bad experience but when all comes to it, its all about making money for the pc companies. I dont think there is any computer manufactors who is perfect. Within even the best there's allways some cases where the customer somehow gets neglected. I wish to believe that your example is the exeption more than the rule.
Again sorry. Keep complaining. -
Wouldn't it be nice if customers tell positive stories. You aways hear the bad, but have you ever seen good things on forums. And i'm sorry for the bad experience you had. But no company is perfect. Even the largest manufacturers have issues. Glad we are not in Europe
Again sorry... be positive -
Just my opinion!
Everybody is spitting his bad things and his bad experiences...
I'm putting my bad experiences on the internet (see my own RMA-thread)
but also reviews about products and many pictures of laptops and so on... -

Another Inventec machine nightmare. You might want to be more persistent with Zepto Europe on this matter. Make sure you speak to the manager in charge. Do let us know how it turns out as they have had a management change recently and for what we know most of the issues Servicing/Support are facing are currently because of the Inventec 6000 series laptops.

I think, at the time when Zepto commissioned the Inventec 6xxx series, they appeared to combine slim and light design + powerful hardware with a reasonable price. With hindsight, however, they proved to be a step too far. One headache was, and is, that the BIOS was never fully optimised. Another headache is the nVidia GPU problem.
With the benefit of hindsight I classify Inventec in the same group as Twinhead.

In Asia/Singapore, we do things differently. We actually used older drivers that are more stable and less problematic than the actual drivers that were given by Nvidia. So far we don't have the problems of the Inventec machines yet. When it does, we'll see. The EU law doesn't really apply to us. You will need to ask Zepto about your specific case.

Yeah ZeptoUSA is so correct.. Only bad reviews and its quite a shame because Zepto is not that worthless at all.. Might do a personal review of my Nexus, and how Zepto fixed it when i broke it within a week.
Me experience with Zeptop: Worst ever!
