    Hello guys I'm going to buy one of The medion Erazer notebooks brand but after alot of reaserches & tests Taken from Notebookcheck.net it's said that the x6813 cpu Can throttle at some points ( comparing it with the older version x6811 ) .

    Here you go :

    x6811 specs : -

    Intel Core i7 740QM 1.73 GHz
    6144 MB, 3x 2048 MByte DDR3 (1333 MHz)
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M - 1536 MB

    The processor and graphics card both reach a temperature of around 80ºC during our several-hour-long stress test using the tools Prime and Furmark.

    It says there is no throttling from the Cpu during those hard tests .

    price = 1000 Euro

    x6813 specs :

    Intel Core i7 2630QM 2 GHz
    4 GB Memory
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M - 1536 MB

    Under full load, the Core i7-2630QM and the GeForce GTX 460M settled in at around 70 and 80°C respectively. Unfortunately, the comparably low temperature of the processor is likely attributed to :( throttling :( . In the stability tests with the Furmark and Prime tools, Intel's quad-core clocked down temporarily to a paltry 800 MHz.

    Price = 1100 Euro

    I'm now confused because How come a new Model cpu Throttle and an old version doesn't . beside the Intel Core i7 740QM has shown a decent preformance during playing games and the difference in FPS is Completely unrecognized comparing it with Intel Core i7 2630QM ?

    Now When you see both models of course you will say the x6813 is better Cause it has a new Cpu and it produces relatively less heat . but it has a cpu throttling issue ( that's my main Concern & i need more feedback or advises if possible ) because i don't like when i lag during games .

    Any help or advice would be really appreciated .

    Thanks in Advance .

    i have the older x6811 and i've never had throttling. mos i've seen the cpu at is mid 70's and about the same for the gfx card - this is after some hours of intense gaming.

    i do not unfortunately have any experience with the newer version but i suppose it is possible that the newer chips have a lower temperature threshold. maybe there is a BIOS update, but i wouldn't bank on that - there has been no BIOS update for my x6811 ever, as far as i can tell.

    hi

    You need two files: AFUDOS.EXE and ENEF_028.EXE. One of the bios, the second ec firmware. Need bootable flash drive on which you are copying these files. You run a laptop from this flash drive and enter the command:
    ENEF_028.exe /DUMP ECFIRMWARE
    This creates a copy of the firmware ec
    and later
    AFUDOS.EXE BIOS /O
    This creates a copy of the BIOS.

    I need the files to be created: BIOS and ECFIRMWARE.

    You should be really careful about this. I'm not saying this is the new BIOS rootkit but it could be!

    I would, as I know that those indeed are safe. But I have Erazer X6817, which differs a lot I guess.

    I know that they won't help at Medion, as I once contacted them and requested the stock BIOS as they haven't released an update yet (I bet they won't ever). All they told that "the BIOS updates will be released in Medion.com". Everytime.

    Is the EC a vital part of the laptop? So if you'd flash a BIOS to your laptop and the EC is kinda something that checks what BIOS is allowed to be flashed? I tried to flash an unlocked MSI BIOS (the same barebone), but I got a checksum error or something like that... And therefore I'm still running with the most simple BIOS ever on my laptop. The factory default. Which sucks, can't save any options as it gets corrupted all the time.
