my laptop has developed a funny problem. You can run it fine all day off the power cable but as soon as you pull the power cable out to run it off the battery it shuts down. Before shutting down it goes to a blue screen that flashes up really fast saying something like "windows has shut down to prevent damage" then something like "uninstall any new hardware etc...". I have not installed anything new on my laptop. if you try and boot the laptop on the battery windows will not load it just keeps going to the blue screen and then restarting, but if you put the power cable in it will boot fine into windows.

I would say the battery is dead but the laptop is only 8 months old and if you start up in safe mode it will run on the battery all day!

Can anybody help me, its driving me mad!

Could download Notebook Hardware Control and see what your wear level is.

Hi, I also have the Medion MID 2030. I have had it roughly 8-9 months from Toys'r'us. Would you believe that I have just had the battery replaced? Is the battery actually charging or holding a charge? Windows Xp told me it was 100% but when I ran a Knoppix LiveCD it said only 9% and it stayed at that level. Check the battery/charge lights on the right hand side of laptop, are they both green? When I phoned the service line they changed the battery with very little hassle, which would point that there must be quite a few dodgy batteries out there. I also have a problem with the fan running constantly, service tells me that it is because the processor isn't a laptop proc, which is why this laptop uses full size RAM also. I run mine now without the battery since 1.5 hrs battery life is ****. the big space in the case seems to be helping with the heat problem, since the fan doesn't seem to be running as often.
Sorry it's so long but hope it helps you. As to whether you swap it...? I like mine and am keeping it so far, now if only I could get Fedora Core 5 to install and get rid of Windoze.
