Take the HDD out and send the machine back for repair.

That's ridiculous! Took you six months to get it back? I've never heard of wait times such as that. Shouldn't be longer than 2 weeks in my opinion.

Well, as posted, looks like your only course of action is to ship it back to them for repair, and hope you get it sooner than six months.

Probably THE MOST common problem with the Averatecs - the 3200 series. Which model is yours? If the system is out of warranty or if you do not want the hassle with having to send it to Averatec CS *again* (and not knowing when you will get it back) and you want some help in doing the repair, go over to the UN-Official Averatec forum where this problem has been reported over and over again. Some people have been able to do the repair on their own with help from that forum.

    Good Luck with it.

Yeah it is ridiculous, I like to try testing notebook manufacturers support by using it before I buy anything, to see how good their service is, quite frankly Averatec scared me. Took a week for a response.

If you like competent repair service, Averatec is not for you.
