Morning all!
When I got my system last month, it was slow but the Turbo memory
seemed to be working (partially). I didn't bother with trying to fix it
as there seemed to be many other pressing issues in getting the system
up and going. Now that I've returned to it, it appears to be disabled
completely.
Under the device manager (Intel(R) Flash Cache Logic Chip) it shows
as being enabled but not functioning properly. The status states "This
device cannot start. (Code 10.)"
Under the Intel Memory console it shows both ReadyBoost & ReadyDrive
disabled without the ability to turn it back on (check boxes grayed out).
Can anyone point me to a list of things I can check to reinstate the
Turbo Memory?
UPDATE! ***********************************************
Though I know little of these things I checked out the Bios and found
The AHCI or something or nother was disabled. After enabling it and
its partner (robinson or something) the turbo memory now works again...
at least partially.
Might this change be due to Bios updates?
As before though, only the ReadyBoost is enabled, the ReadyDrive remains
disabled. I've tried enabling it (and thus rebooting) several times without
avail. Any thoughts?
Any thoughts are appreciated!

whoopsie, It might be that you have to reinstall vista...
have you enabled AHCI BEFORE you installed Vista? If not you have to reinstall vista with AHCI enabled first
(John can give more info as he has done this, and I have to go) -

Various points:
1. If the 6625W BIOS is like the 6x24W BIOS then any updates have AHCI and Turbo Memory (Robson) disabled by default. This is for compatibility with any notebooks which do not have the AHCI driver installed (and will BSOD, but this does not happen the other way round).
It would be useful if Zepto included a comment in the BIOS update release notes to remind users that customised settings will be reset to the defaults (it would be even more useful if there was a little program to save and then re-apply the customised settings - this could be an option in the BIOS update program).
2. The Intel matrix storage manager ( currently version 7.6) is newer than the version included with the Turbo Memory driver.
3. It seems to take several reboot cycles for Turbo Memory to get operating properly.
4. It is not necessary to reinstall the operating system before enabling AHCI (if AHCI was not enabled in the original installation). There are more details in this thread and the associated links.
