    Hello Everyone...

    I need some help here..

    I have a notebook that been 2 years use. Mine was Zepto Znote 6615WD, Denmark Assembly, bought in UK.
    Now, i'm having this weird condition that i cannot upgrade the memory upto 4GB or 3GB, i stuck at the max 2.5GB. The sound and modem wont start if i put 4GB or 3GB mem.
    I'm thinking that this is the cause of a bug in BIOS.
    My motherboard is ACER MPAD-MSAE Customer Reference Board, with the latest version BIOS from Zepto as the manufacture is version z1.09. ftp://ftp.zepto.dk/

    Now, i want to ask you guys/girls...
    Can i use an ACER BIOS Release for other motherboard and flash it to my notebook motherboard?
    Which one is it?

    My Notebook Specs:
    T7600, Nvidia 7600 go, 2.5GB mem, 160GB HDD, 15.4".
    BIOS: ftp://ftp.zepto.dk/Notebooks/Discontinued...BIOS/v1.09v.iso

    Thank you for everyone that wlling to help.
    You can mail me at: [email protected]

    Thanks

    BG,
    iyep

    Are you using a 32bit operating system?

    I don't think that's the issue. Installing more RAM wouldn't stop existing hardware from working. The user will only see about 3.2GB of RAM when 4GB is installed.

    It could well be a BIOS-related issue. That board was designed before 2GB modules became commonplace and affordable (they were about £400 then) and it probably wasn't tested with those modules.

    I don't know about using a non-Zepto BIOS and I would personally be worried about killing the computer completely.

    My only suggestion is to, after putting in the 3GB or 4GB RAM, to go into the BIOS and reset / redectect anything and everything. I recall there might be something relating to the mapping of peripherals, but can't remember the name (possibly ACPI). It is possible that the default addressing for some hardware needs to be moved when the RAM is increased.

    The 6214W and 6615WD models are only made to support 2GB RAM at a max, so don't think it's a BIOS issue, more so a hardware limitation.

    @bornslippy
    Yes, I am. But, as John said its not an issue.

    @John
    Thank you for giving that great comment. I'm thinking the same about the BIOS.
    There is a Cache Memory setting in the Phoenix BIOS, some of the menu was disabled and perhaps this is what i need to tweak.
    But, before i do that and before i might crash my BIOS, i need to find any document that relating to this settings.
    I've search at phoenix.com but havent found any.
    Any suggestion John?

    @kadett2k8
    By seeing the user guide, i can say that you are right about the max memory for 6615WD. The doc said it max to 2GB.
    But, intel 945PM was the centre who rule the memory management and intel said it can support upto 4GB...
    Perhaps i miss something, please correct me.

    So, anyone else with comment and solution?

    Thanks

    Just because the chipset might support 4GB RAM it's not a point about what is actually supported. 4GB RAM wasn't payable until about a year after the 6615WD was released, so that might be why the 4GB support was left out.

    @kadett2k8
    Ok, I get it.
    So, should i hate Zepto for being miserly aka stingy aka being too much thrifty?

    I have tried John suggestion but not working...i almost need to reset the BIOS. Cause, it just stuck at POST. Thank God it can self reset.

    Now....Anything else? Any solution from experts?
    or should i put this in general discussion?

    Thanks
