Did the slot slip up over the button? It's hard to tell exactly what's going on because the picture was taken so close.

That piece of plastic is the cover that lifts out so the keyboard can be pulled back to get at the under belly of the computer. It's made to be removed so carefully press it back into place.

I'm wondering if one of the tabs that holds this strip in place is broken--causing it to sit unevenly. From the pictures though, I'd say it doesn't look that bad.

You can try removing it. Use a small flat screwdriver and gently pry it up. Start at the Left (ESC key) and work from under the copper trim. Now note that the plastic of the keyboard and the copper trim will compress rather easily, so be gentle while doing it.

Once you've popped the left side, work you way to the middle and finally to the right side. Then you can put the strip back down again.

    Good luck!

I'm glad to hear you got it back together again. Even happier to know your HEL80 survived the fall.

Try not to let that happen again ;).

    1. How to remove the thing in front of the keybord.
    2. That my HEL80 is actually quite robust.
    3. And finnaly, that i wil never try and figure out how my laptop backpack works while im drunk again
