    Hi,

I have a Mitac 8227D laptop and it has just started making a fizzing sound and smells of burning when plugged into the mains through the AC adaptor.

It still works fine on the battery (with the power that is left in it), but obviously I cannot recharge the battery as this involves plugging the AC adaptor back into the latop, which creates the smell and sound of burning.

I have tried a new AC adaptor and it does exactly the same thing, so I know thats fine, so its clearly something in the laptop itself.

Anyone know which part to change?

    Thanks!

For me this sounds like a defect power jack, but i am not 100 % sure..
