I own a Mitac 8207D notebook bought in HgSpot Zagreb (Croatia) under the name of "Forcebook Vision"...
Also, my friend bought a "Forcebook Infinity", and his model's manufacturer is Compal
I have never heard of Mitac. What kind of Manufacturer is it? Quality?

Prices are good, 2 years warranty, kingmax memory inside, Hitachi HDD, LG dvd DL, Samsung's lcd matrix, ... and it works fine. ;)

I have a Mitac. I'm not sure how old it is as I got it second hand, maybe three years?

Unfortunately Mitac forgot the thermal paste and the cpu was hitting some pretty high temperatures before I sorted it out (it's now around 67 degrees on full load). The long overheating cpu seems to have fried a few of the compnents. The hard disk was replaced just before I got the machine and the DVD-RW drive is pretty unreliable and I've replaced it now. Other than that the screen connections seem to be slightly dodgy, with the odd slight colour distortion (a particular shade of blue seems to flicker and the bottom left sometimes has a red tint to it). The cpu,ram and graohics card seem to be fine though and it still performs well in games. I'd put the failures down to the overheating cpu.

Assuming no problems like that I'd imagine your Mitac will last well. Mine is almost perfect cosmetically witth no build quality issues and has a very good spec for the price when new and for the price i paid now.

Mitac generally sell their laptops to independant resellers such as Evesham, Tiny, Time and Novatech in the UK amongst others, who then badge them as their own and sell them. I've had a couple of laptops of this nature from Novatech (Mitac) and Hi-grade and they seem to be perfectly well made with good features and hardware.

Mitac is one of the second tier of notebook ODMs. They have been round for a long time. I had one sometime in the past (I forget what name was on the front).

I would describe them as "value" rather than "quality". And I wouldn't blame Mitac for leaving out the thermal paste. They would ship a barebones notebook without CPU, RAM and HDD. These would be added by whoever sells the notebook to the end user.

Mitac also make and sell some other products, such as GPSs, under their own name.

So Novatech were to blame! Watch out, Novatech have never heard of thermal paste!
