Well since NVIDIA are going to release drivers for their notebook graphics cards themselves lets actually go and bug AMD on their forums ourselves to try and squeeze some drivers out of them too? XD

Lets try to get the OCZ reps as well as the OCZ company as a whole to help us. Sine they are the ones putting the cards into their systems they have a stronger pull on ATI than we all do. So if we all get together and post we will be able to get an answer (all OCZ + users). This is what I referred to as patronizing on a closed thread. OCZ patronizes ATI therefore in a way OCZ is the boss of ATI. Hence they got more pull. Too bad the thread was closed before I could make this post. I think It would have helped quite a bit. O well not much we can do now.

Obviously OCZ has the leverage of saying to ATI that if they don't support their products they'll remove all ATI cards from their future build siding with Nvidia. Putting more pressure on ATI to release driver on time.(just need to negotiate and get a little tough. The way the economy is going I bet ATI doesnt want to see a loss on cards due to lack of support.)

This thread will just turn into the same thing as the last that got closed. OCZ said they would have the driver in a WEEK, the week has come and gone and there is no "official" driver from them. All you have to do is look at their support site for this chassis and the driver versions/dates. They have ZERO support. If you reseller is not updating/supporting this product i would not hold my breath for OCZ. My reseller (RK Computers) is constantly updating their drivers including the GPU.

I will direct you over to my post in the closed thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4295636&postcount=141

OCZ is not writing the driver and we are committed to getting the 8.12 mobility for Vista released (XP is available).
All manuf. are in the same situation waiting for this driver, nobody has them because they are not finished. If you have a link to 8.12 mobility drivers for Vista, you let me know :)

I will keep this community as updated as I can.

    Thank you :)

NVIDIA are now releasing notebook drivers themselves now though. Last thread, they weren't and so AMD weren't under pressure to release drivers themselves. If AMD don't respond to this well, then they probably will lose more market share... just got to give them a push...

First, XP Mobility drivers for the NEW cards ARE NOT AVAILABLE!! The XP mobility drivers on the amd/ati site are for antique cards..........

You keep linking to a post that you reposted numerous times which is:

"OCZ is committed to support for this platform and has always released updates when they become available, and this includes pushing for the latest drivers. OCZ does not write the drivers for mobility Radeon 3870, these will be released as soon as they are completed and validated by ATI and we are pushing for continual updates. OCZ supports all of our SI customers many of which add value to the solution with their own unique brand. Support for any of these solutions needs to go through the branded/boutique notebook brand where the product was purchased. We work directly with our partners to support their platforms but front line service and support for products that have been customized is taken care of by these brands.

OCZ does offer DIY notebooks under the OCZ brand and our team can assist with support with these products. If you need support for your OCZ DIY notebook please visit the Official OCZ Support Forum: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...play.php?f=168

If you need support for a notebook purchased from another notebook brand please contact the branded vendor for support.

    Thank you.""

You tell others here if they did not purchase your DIY contact their vendor. That is completely INSANE! You guys cannot even support the DIY with drivers and the vendors are supposed to get the drivers from you? Nothing like running the consumer in circles HUH?

If it were not for my vendor (RK Computers) and the only other one i have seen (Killer Notebooks) there would be no updated drivers!!!!!!!!!!

You have no support for the OCZ brand, the drivers on your site are quite dated and have never released for this a vga driver other than the initial release.

Your counterpart also said they had XP mobility drivers available?

If you two guys are OCZ's notebook GURU's i think we are in some serious trouble.

Everything posted here is FACT and in RESPONSE to the OCZ REPS posts.

Also, the week has ended tonight: where are the drivers??

First i have to state if this thread gets closed like this one:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=330313&page=15

    This is wrong.....

This is a public forum and you have a ton of consumers complaining about a company. Then a moderator closes the thread because:

" This thread has deteriorated into bickering as well as insults towards other member so its now closed.
    --------------
    @OCZ reps:
Thank you for providing your insight. Please keep "us" informed on any further development as I am sure many members will find it helpful.
    ---------------
    -Kdawgca
    NBR Mod"

This is not bickering or anything against another merber. It is all about OCZ, it is a multi-billion dollar company selling notebooks and providing absolutly no support.

The OCZ reps have provided NO INSIGHT. They arrived here only after the "bad press" started rolling in.

They have provided NO resolutions, NO drivers, NO updates:::::::::::::::

NBR Moderators if you must censor this then let it be.

But this is AMERICA... "freedom of speach""

and how are consumers supposed to find out about companies like OCZ unless you let these consumer complaints are published?

this thread is on topic..the topic of the lack of support by OCZ for mobility drivers.. hence, the thread topic "mobility drivers". And, honestly I am offended by an OCZ rep. I just received a PM from one of them..

hey even if ATI never releases the drivers Nvidia is going to be shipping in and supported for the whitebook Q2 next year right? So if ATI doesn't then we can just say em and switch to Nvidia then right  ? Are there any disadvantages to this? Would the whitebook be able to handle two nvidias? Is it hard to find laptop GPU's by themselves?

If they do we'll be back to the beginning which is that we need the mobility drivers. ATI is currently not putting out drivers for their mobile cards.

Ya, even if the 4870 or whatever turns out to be compatible, without proper drivers you won't ever get to see its full potential, same with the 3870's we have now.
