I have Compal HGL-30 and when i go to close the screen for awhile. It just turns off and like goes to a black screen. It ends up turning off my wireless conection and when i open the screen up again i have to move my mouse to make it comeback. It also comebacks to the logon screen.

What i want to happen is just to turn the monitor off and play my music while its folded down. Please help. I've toggled with all the Power Options and everything. So thanks for helping if you can. If my english is bad im sorry, im not trying to write a formal paper haha :p

What you are describing should be default action for your system. Have you contacted your reseller to see what they have to say about it? Sounds like your system is hibernating or suspending when you close the lid..

If you haven't done so already (Windows XP)...
    - Right click your desktop, click properties
    - Screen Saver Tab, uncheck the box for "on resume, password protect"
    - Screen Saver Tab, click power options
    - Advanced Tab, drop-down should be "When I close the lid on my portable computer" [DO NOTHING |^]

Other then that, I think you already tried to get help for this on another thread (Chrisyano merge maybe?). Try contacting your reseller, or perhaps consider a re-install?

It doesnt really go into suspension nor hibernation. And I have done the whole Power Option thing. I can handle it its just I've shut the monitor with my dell and it still plays and never loses connection. Sigh if there is no way then i guess I can just leave. Thanks neways.

Well, then the only other option I can give you is to re-install or get your reseller's support involved.. No laptop "should" drop your wireless when you close the lid, or put you at a login screen when you open it when you have the options to do so turned off..

short answer, that isn't normal behavior and has nothing to do with the brand or model notebook you have.

I'm assuming you tried to save money and built this system yourself, or you would have already contacted the reseller...

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure your system isn't set to suspend when you close the lid? I've found that's default almost everywhere, and it annoys the hell out of me ;) Double-check that it's set to "Do Nothing" in your power properties (where you configure your screen saver)

i double checked like 18 times i got it set to do nothing. if you want i can do a screenshot. Idk why its doing this. Tommorow im going to call the Tech peeps.Oh and I didnt build this myself. Just got it custom built from Xotic PC.

Score!!!! I fixed it all I had to do was turn my screensaver to none. Kinda crazy but it works. But now i dont have a screen saver for if i leave the monitor on...sigh do you really need a screen saver?? what is the use for it neways?

I don't use screen savers.. I set my computers to turn off the display instead..
