The cover is awesome will post pics later.
I didnt order XP with it as I thought I could get a cheapo OEM copy for 30 english, but there are none to be had right now so I will order a copy now online for 55.
In the mean time I have Vista Beta 2
Will give it a try![]()

excellent please get lots of pictures up.
and if you wouldnt mind, theres a couple of things from various reviews i'd quite like to clear up:
1. how is the screen? is it a bit murky? what are the viewing angles like?
2. exacly how thick is it? some say 40mm, some say 27mm
3. and also, how was dealing with zepto? was the payment process ok? was there any difference between when they said they would deliver and when they actually did?
many thanks in advance if you can clear any of this up -
Congrats on your purchase!
Im very interested in the screen quality because it was slated in a previous review. Is it glossy or matte? How is the brightness?
Also, can you run some benchmarks like 3DMark05?
Looking forward to your review. -
lol Vista was a bust it says it needs a product key
so I have installed a version of windows XP from my desktop until my OEM arrives.
The screen is matte and the Viewing angles aint great, infact so far its almost like for like with my dv1049 so im happy as im a matte guy.
glossy = Glare = annoying -
resized these to 800x600 to make them forum friendly
Stevie G ownz all
my old HP DV1049 its going for sale soon.

looks really great, except that i'm not a big soccer fan (except for our nationalteam
). How fine resolutive is the coverimage?
-
Your display cover looks great (meaning the print, not the content)! Colors, resolution, everything!
I hope the printable display cover will reach the 6615WD...
Have you seen some Averatec with printed display cover live? Can you compare both? -
juan did you say that the zepto screen is about as good as the hp dv1000 screen?
that seems good enough for me, it looks very bright in the 3rd picture
that print looks beautiful by the way, congrats -
yes but its not the brightview dv1000 its the 2 year old matte
-
Hey guys, are you getting Zepto in the US? I though it is a little known
Scandinavian brand selling only in Europe. -

Nice notebook but...
Must. Resist. Desire. To. Mock -
i think i prefer the matte screen. is the screen bright enough for you to use it outside do you reckon?
-
-
-
excellent, thanks very much.
i think that settles it, i'm just gonna have to get one now -
Could u do a review of it, even if its only brief?
-
will have to wait until sunday
-
juan, sorry to bother you again. but what materials is the 6214 chassis made out of, the pictures in the zepto vs macbook seem to show that its got a metallic base to the chassis.
is any part of the chassis metal? or if not, is it the quality they claim on their website?
cheers again
#phil -
its all plastic but its all solid their are no eeky parts if you know what i mean
-
Chassis is reinforced by aluminium as the website states thats why there are no eeky parts... but the outer materials are all plastic, correct
-
except the memory cover which is solid ALU
-
so far im loving this notebook, the Yonah chip owns my 1.83mhz beats my Opteron [email protected] (FX57 speed)
1Meg Super pi
opteron 35seconds
Yonah 33seconds
Im abit busy right now guys moving stuff and files from my dv1049 ->Zepto
managed to have a quick game of Hitman blood money last night, it played smooth as silk.
I did also install Centrino Notebook control, and then removed it as no matter which flag I clicked the CPU stayed at 6x(1ghz) lol I think even Hitman ran at that speed.
One thing I have noticed about this notebook is its fan is really quiet, compared to many notebooks, some sound like hair dryers. When you consider how powerful it is the only reason the zepto isnt so noisey must because they have turned the Notebook into one big Heatsink with all that ALuminium, works well. -
@Juan Ker , what about the heat from the laptop? Is it alot?
Also, how are you finding the screen quality / brightness? Have you tried watching dvds yet? What are the colours/contrast like?
oh, dont forget to run 3dmark05!
Cheers! -
The left hand vent blows quite alot of hot air.
watching a DVD is good just aslong as you dont move to far from looking straight at the screen.
I am not a 3d mark guy, zepto have posted the 3d mark scores and trusted revews have confirmed them, 3d mark proves nothing in actual games. -
-
I have not got that far, but they game moves well at 1024x768 with 4x AA on
-
a little update, when i got my zeppy it had a 2 pin euro plug, which aint good for UK, so I was gonna order some adapters (I have an xbox 360 that has europlug too)
anyway this mornig in he post I recieve a 3 pin Power cable from zeptos UK partners, and I didnt even ask -
that is most encouraging. props to zepto
juan is there any chance of some more pictures, perhaps a bit more of your appreciations and disappointments with it?
i understand that you're not here to pander to our requests, but it would be much appreciated
also, to everyone else, did i read right somewhere that a reviewer on this site was supposed to be getting one? i havent seen anything since
#phil -
Hi phil,
to the best of my knowledge we are working on getting one to a reviewer on this site.
br morten -
+ The screen is on a par with my dv1049 which I have been happy with for the lasy year.
+ The Core Duo 1.8ghz is nearly 100% faster then the PM 1.4ghz in my dv1049
+ Blue Leds look nice
+ Then fan is quiet.
+ The 7600 does a fine job
+ Got a free case cover.
- QLButton software doesnt appear to work
- Notebook Hardware Control doesnt appear to work fully
The overal paint job is fantastic, there are a few tiny inperfections if you look close, but for the price i paid I certainly wouldnt expect perfection.
what sort of pics do you want? -
the pictures i am really after are those of the bottom of the chassis. what i would like to know is how easy it is to access the components inside, particularly the cpu, because i hope to upgrade to merom when it becomes available.
i would wait for a merom notebook, but i need the thing for uni in september. i would also take a turion x2, but they only put them in crappy chassis, and no one wants an ugly notebook
would you mind taking some shots of the bottom covers? im not asking you to take it apart, that would be incredibly unreasonable to you and your new toy, but i would really appreciate some shots of the bottom covers to see how upgradeable it might be. have you had a look at the underside yet? are bits accessible?
thanks btw for the rundown, ive never had much use for quick launch buttons, and everything else sounds excellent -
sorry for double post
thanks morten, i hope it can happen
but whilst you're around, is there any particular reason that the 6214 cant be configured with xp media centre? is it because it would create competition for your other models? is there any reason why media centre shouldnt be used on the 6214?
as it stands i plan to purchase the 6214 and xp media centre separately, is there any reason against doing this?
thanks in advance
#phil -
I will post some pics, but morten said you only have 2 undo 2 screws to access the cpu
-
err?? .. well yeah its 2 holding down the cpu tigthener... might have been misread but yes it is quite easy
3 Holding the kb, in the bottom of the machine and 2 holding the cpu after that....
i cant remember however if one of the screws holding the kb is placed under the memcover.. but indeed it should be quite easy to access -
One thing I have noticed is the Nvidia 8421 driver on your FTP site wont install, it keeps telling me there is not a suitable driver for my hardware.
I also read on Nvidia's site that GO cards will not work with nvidias REF drivers, and that support is upto the Notebook Manufacturers, so who is responsible for updating the zeptos 7600?
as the 9* refs are out now -
-
Best Foot Forward Notebook Evangelist
Oh stop it you dirty boy
When you review it I'd like to see your opinion on its screen as there is a variety of comments out there. I'd also like to see comparisons against notebooks that have the go7600 and mr x1600 if possible please. -
I've got the glossy screen of my 710m and the matte screens of a few thinkpads (T30, T41) to compare it against, so I'll be sure to run it through its paces.
As for 3D capability, I'll be sure to run plenty of benchmarks and real world tests - I'm rather interested in seeing how well it stacks up as a portable gaming machine.. as I'm sure everyone else is. -
well I have been installing my old apps on the zepto and somewhere a problem has kicked in.
the 80gb sata wont move faster then 2mbytes, tested it in hdtune, and my usb stick is 5x faster:O
weird problem
I knew something was wrong when toca 3 took 2 hours to install -
back to normal now, the hd had switched into pio mode
-
I was very very close to buying one of these zeptos. Upgading the thing costs far less than many other manufacturers ie 2gb ram for £80. However the thing that stopped me purchasing this beast was the lack of any finance deals as every other retailer offer at least 6 months . Pity beacause it otherwise is a cracking deal.
-
yeah i simply used my cc and will take the pain later, so far its been worth it, this little beastie has handled everything i have thrown at it
-
Someone has any idea when we can see a review here?
-
Im working on 1 in word so I can publish it properlly, however I might post work in progress, this is gonna be a deep review including the niggles.
-
juan - did you get any further with the graphics drivers? im having the exact same problem...
wouldnt mind so much, but am having lots of lighting issues in bf2, big black streaky lines keep littering my screen, even with dynamic lighting and shadows turned off -
this is the only place u need booby
