After finally receiving my IFL90 last night from UPS (waited nearly 2 months) I noticed that I had made a mistake in ordering it with no OS. I had relied on my legal copy of Windows XP SP1 CD to save me quite a bit of $. I did indeed save money by doing this, BUT payed the price of a tiring, headache filled, sleepless evening. After much research I come to find out that the reason why I could not get WinXP to install (kept displaying the BSOD), is because many WinXP install CDs dont have the SATA RAID drivers needed by most computers (in this case Compal IFL90s). So I was victorious in my quest of learning how to create a fully functional WinXP SP2 install CD, and as of this morning my Compal IFL90 was 80% functional.

    What's working:
    1) Windows XP SP2 + Office XP
    2) Geforce 8600m GT 512mb video card
    3) LCD screen is perfect without dead pixels
    4) wireless LAN connection
    5) nice and quiet and doesn't get too hot

    What's NOT working:
    1) biometric built-in fingerprint reader
    2) FN key not reacting whatsoever. As if it isn't even being pressed.

I have done my searching through the internet and the forums here but I cannot for the life of me find anything relevant enough to help me fix these last two little buggy problems.

The fingerprint reader's program that comes with the laptop does not detect it at all. It says it is not hooked up or whatever. I tried downloading the link for the drivers from this discussion http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2314417 but that hasn't really helped me in fixing the issue.

The FN key I am totally lost in. Every discussion I've read regarding this seems to end on a different cause for the problem. Everything command that requires the FN to be pressed is non existant. I am hoping that it is not the key itself because its going to suck hard to ship a laptop back that I waited for so long to get because they goofed on 1 key on the entire keyboard. This refers to even the smallest commands such as FN+F7 / F8 to adjust the volume.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
