Did you run Windows Update after your install?

*Side Note* I would recommend backing up your files and doing a clean install of Vista, no upgrade. Unless you have the Vista upgrade I dont think you can without installing XP first but I think there is a hack out their somewhere to clean install from an upgrade cd.

When you start your computer, can you go into the BIOS and see the drive? Can you hit F12 when booting and select the CDROM as the drive to boot from?

Without responses, I'd say no. Your best bet really is to try upgrading your BIOS. You may also have a dead CD drive, due to some kind of ACPI error or something in Vista. I don't know for sure. I'm not about to install Vista on my machine ever, much less to test something like this, so you'll probably have to ask your reseller, maybe send it in for service.

This might have nothing to do with the thread, but Pitabred, I have a question about Kubuntu that you are using. Did you manage to get the integrated camera working, and the finger print scanner working under kubuntu?

Nope. There aren't drivers for the camera out yet, but they may be out sooner rather than later. It won't be in the kernel for a while. You can use lsusb to find the chip and do some research as I don't have the links for it. As for the fingerprint reader, I've heard it works, but I haven't tried (or cared).
