The trailer for Mythos has been released.... looks cool, but judge for yourself:

Very nice notebook, an excellent product on paper and at a very competitive price.
I can't wait for the first user reviews and game play reviews (gaming on a summer day).
It's an expensive trailer, well made, the music is godawful though (but that's a matter of taste).
Let's hope all the BIOS versions for the Mythos and the Nox, will be equally slick and well made. -

Big download, looks pretty, but doesn't give any real detail.

Oewh I like this Mythos movie more than the Nox movie...
(I think it's because I like the white color of the Mythos instead of the black Nox) -
-
Hey Zepto USA, I have a question. I see all the other manufacturers with their new Centrino 2 models have CPU ram at DDR3 as well as their memory RAM at DDR3. But I also noticed that the ram in the NOX and MYTHOS is only DDR2? Am I correct or is that a typo? If they had DDR3 id most likely purchase a Nox or Mythos over the other manufacturers..
-
The GPU has DDR3 memory. But the RAM memory is DDR2. Because DDR3 is quite expensive at this moment, Zepto decided to introduce models with DDR2. The upcoming 17" has DDR3 RAM.
-
hm, do the NOX and Mythos right now support DDR3?
and will there be any 15.4s with ddr3 anytime soon? if so, when? -
No, the Nox and Mythos are DDR2. To be honest I really don't know if the upcoming 14" also has DDR2. I only know that the 17" will have DDR3 SO-DIMM slots. They should be released mid August.
-
oh ok, but lets say I buy he NOX and later on I buy DDR3 to replace the DDR2 i currently have in there. Does the nox (motherboard) support ddr3 even though it comes with stock ddr2?
-
No. The mainboard only supports DDR2. Sorry about that. I didn't design the NOX
-
darn that sucks, really bad. Thats a deal breaker. Everythnig is perfect on that laptop except for that part
thanks for the help dude -
Why? Only because you want the newest specs...?
-
True but DDR3 ram is very expensive atm. -
And just coming back on:
I think the gap between 1280x800 and 1680x1050 is humanious
I'm used to 1440x900 on my Zepto Znote 6224W so if I take a 1280x800 screen I can see less information on my screen what I don't like now I'm used to it...
And I think I will like the 1680x1050 screen but I also want to play games in native resolution and 1680x1050 is quite a resolution for playing games with a normal framerate and game-settings on (at least) high...
So I'd preferred the 1440x900 resolution, that's not there and that's a pity
(sorry for stealing this thread, it had nothing to do with it) -
I agree with you, CLB. In terms of specs these machines are looking great but I'm worried about the screen. I guess I could live with 1280x800 but it is kind of on the big side, just as 1680x1050 is definitely pushing it in terms of smallness and gaming performance.
C'mon Zepto, we want 1440x900! -
For the 1680x1050 resolution and playing games in native resolution...
Zepto has pronounced a newer/ better videocard in the Nox / Mythos.. -
I just have to say, that everyone allways announce they will come out with something new, electronics gets better and better all the time, and there will allways come out something beter in a few months..
-
That's true!
But I don't want a combination with a WSXGA+ screen and a GO9600M GT =)
I can live with a WXGA+ screen and a GO9600M GT, or with a WSXGA+ screen with a better videocard than the GO9600M GT! But you're right! -
Btw lads, have you noticed the resemblance of Mythos to some cheap HP business class notebooks? I sell them where i work and the screen edges, the front edge and the notebook sides are exactly like.
-
Thorne, pics?
-
Maybe it looks like a HP, but Zepto designed this by themselves. I can imagine it is difficult to design something that is not designed already. But Zepto designed it from the ground up. Zepto Denmark told me.
-
Of course, they might have designed it themselves, but i think there's a limit to it what looking laptop they might design.. I think they just choose the pieces from some catalog + add the colour.
Not that i think it's ugly, i think it looks fabulous.
Well anyways, here's a picture of one of those models which IMO have so resemblance.

yeah, it does have a resembles to that one, but the ODD and USB connectors are placed in other places. I've had a close information flow with Zepto because i've ordred a Nox and they've designed it completely from how the corner should look, the placement of the USB connectors ect. They've had their own marketing department on how the design should look. Nothing taken from a catalog anywhere
even the motherboard is designed especially for this machine and should say Zepto on the PCB

Has anyone else noticed that the nox/mythos doesn't seem to have any hinges to hold the lid down. Could it be magnetism? That'd be pretty sweet
-
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
You mean a latch / catch, I presume.
I think they use springs / cams in the hinges, not magnets on the palm rest. I've tried looking for evidence of magnets on other notebooks which don't have latches but didn't find any.
It may look neater but doesn't bring any overall benefit. You should still need two hands to open the display.
John -
i think John is right.
The only benefit is the cosmetic aspect as the LCD lock normally doesn't add the the good looks of a notebook. Also with "spring" hinges you don't have to fear breaking the LCD lock as it's not there.
I like this on my Notus. -
Either way, I do find it to be benefitial since there isn't a single PC maker so far that have managed to understand why apple is popular. Atleast Zepto is trying its best to make clean and sleek laptops - something I find very positive.
Ps. I only have to use one hand to open my 6214W. -

If reliance is on springs to keep the display shut then the hinges need to be stiffer to avoid accidental opening so opening is a two-handed job. Anyway, that's my experience with several notebooks without latches.
